Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order on Tuesday preventing Arizona’s public universities and community colleges from mandating students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine or submit COVID-19 vaccination documents. In addition, higher education students cannot be mandated to be tested for the virus or wear masks in order to participate in learning.

“The vaccine works, and we encourage Arizonans to take it. But it is a choice and we need to keep it that way,” Ducey said in a news release. “Public education is a public right, and taxpayers are paying for it. We need to make our public universities available for students to return to learning. They have already missed out on too much learning.”

The executive order provides exemptions for students participating in medical or clinical training. It also does not prevent colleges from encouraging vaccinations, providing testing or having voluntary mask usage. According to the executive order, although COVID is highly contagious, it has not demonstrated transmission characteristics that would mandate vaccines in “narrow circumstances.”

Arizona has administered more than 6 million vaccine doses to date, with more than 3 million Arizonans fully vaccinated.

  1. But you’re required to get a measles vaccine. What an idiot. If it’s safe and effective why isn’t it required just like other vaccines?

  2. When did stupidity become a recognized plank of a certain political party’s platform?

When did it become OK for elected representatives to proudly display their blatant ignorance of reality — to include biology, geography, astronomy, and any other -ology that does not fit their skewed view of the world?

When did it become acceptable for grown people to submit unsupportable lies and conspiracy theories as excuses to ignore their sworn oaths and duties to undermine and destroy the very institutions they are a part of, like some idiot cloaked in the American flag hiding in the Tree of Liberty and sawing off the limb they are sitting on to show their supporters how patriotic they are.

“We the People” are mad as hell, and obviously, some of those elected to represent us are just MAD, as in certifiably crazy.

I submit that it is long overdue that people seeking political office should have to submit to and pass the same rigorous requirements that we subject law enforcement people to, e.g., background screenings, financial audits and psychological evaluations.

America is not perfect — far from it — but those we elect to power should be of sound mind and spirit and able to tell the difference between right and wrong, truth and lie, reality and fantasy, and act accordingly, which is the most basic requirement of any nation of laws.

“As if there were safety in stupidity alone.” — Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

  3. When my kids went to college 20 years ago they had to prove their vaccinations were up to date. We are moving backwards…. Thanks to Republican stupidity.

  4. “rigorous requirements that we subject law enforcement people to, e.g., background screenings, financial audits and psychological evaluations.”

Sorry but if those background checks WERE so rigorous how can they be hiring racist cops? That’s the cry after every officer involved shooting.

Thank you Gov Ducey for slowing the hysteria. The news last night showed a father and son hospitalized with blood clots after the vaccine. testing showed that the 17 year old son had antibodies because he had Covid and did not need the shot.

Neither one may survive. Try googling “deaths from vaccine.” Then ask yourself why are they hiding this? Doctors recommended Hydroxychloroquin and they censored them.

Turns out that many facilities were using that and it worked well. It makes one think this may be based more on money, power and control.

  5. There are various iterations of this quote, and it’s attributed to various people, but it is truer than ever: “In a democracy, people get the government they deserve.”

In this country, with our increasingly infantile and idiotic electorate and our supercharged capitalism and white supremacy distorting reality and ruling public perceptions, it should be no surprise that infantile, idiotic, privileged frat boys like Doug Douchey and Donald Tchump rise to the top.

  6. Imagine that this governors executive crap excludes medical training. Public health is it as important as public education. Government pandemic departments are very valuable. Listen to the experts.

  7. Alina Chan is a biologist at the Silver lab at the Harvard School of Medicine.

Chan says liberal scientists lied to the American public for months about their beliefs on the origination of the virus. They did this because they didn’t want to be associated with President Trump — who was right about the virus all along.

And you thought science wasn’t political!

  8. The HHS had set aside $3B under Trump to develop a anti viral pill so the shots will be over soon.

  9. Vaccinations are now killing more healthy 18 year olds than the virus ever did.

Masks killed tens of thousands as they were almost worthless against the virus (according to both Fauci, see his March 2020 email and the CDC which quietly acknowledged aerosol propagation a year too late) and caused people to take unnecessary risks.

    Public health debacle.
