The Democratic political action committee EMILY’s List put U.S. Rep. Martha McSally “on notice” for the next election cycle, making her seat a “top target” for a Democrat takeover in 2016.

The PAC keeps track of Republican incumbents at all levels of government who have an anti-abortion, anti-reproductive health record.

“The EMILY’s List community—more than three million members strong—is committed to holding elected officials accountable for their extreme anti-woman and anti-family records,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List. “In the last five months of the 114th Congress, Congresswoman McSally has proven to be more interested in supporting national abortion bans and restricting women’s access to health care instead of the interest of the most vulnerable men and women in Arizona’s Second Congressional District. That’s why EMILY’s List is putting Martha McSally “On Notice”—her refusal to stand up for women and families in Arizona will get her sent packing in 2016.”

Here’s what EMILY’s has kept track of:

● McSally Supported an Abortion Ban. In May 2015, McSally voted for a bill that would prohibit abortions in cases where the probable age of the fetus is 20 weeks or later and would impose criminal penalties on doctors who violate the ban. It would provide exceptions for cases in which the woman’s life is in danger as well as for pregnancies that are a result of rape if, as amended, for pregnancies that are a result of rape against an adult woman, the woman received counseling or medical treatment for the rape at least 48 hours prior to the abortion. An exception would be provided for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest against a minor if the rape or incest had been previously reported to law enforcement or another government agency authorized to act on reports of child abuse. [HR 36, Vote #223, 5/13/15; CQ Floor Votes]

● McSally Voted to Limit Access to Reproductive Health Services. In 2015, McSally voted for the ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,’ which “seeks to make the [Hyde] amendment permanent law, and to prevent federal funds from going not just toward abortions themselves but toward any plan, provider, or facility that offer such services. […] The bill gives insurers a big incentive to drop abortion coverage from their plans, or risk losing the large pool of consumers who receive the law’s subsidies.” [National Journal, 1/28/15; HR 7, Vote #45, 1/22/15; CQ Floor Votes]

● McSally Opposed Abortion in Cases of Rape and Incest during Her First Run for Office. “During her 2012 campaign, in a questionnaire from a conservative group, McSally said she supported repealing Obamacare and prohibiting abortion except when it was necessary to prevent the death of the mother.” [Politico, 6/09/14]

The on notice list is updated throughout the election cycle.

EMILY’s contributes hundreds of millions of dollars in support of pro-abortion Democratic women candidates to be elected to office.

  1. A “democratic takeover?” Gee that sounds like fun.

How’s that Obamacare working out for you? Insurers are now asking for another rate increase. Affordable? Yeah right.

  2. > It’s working out great for me and a lot of other people I know. I can now afford to pay for health insurance (and I’m not getting any subsidies) and not worry about ruining my life if I get into an accident.

  3. Lupe you are probably getting it free of charge for one of a couple reasons and the rest of the working taxpayers is paying for it.

  4. McSally doesn’t care about women’s rights, just likes to vote against them. She’s too busy reporting to her puppet masters to actually think about the vulnerable women of Southern AZ. As for Obamacare, I can now get covered with pre-existing condition – thank you Obamacare!!!

  5. Great for you Lupe. I now have a $10,000 deductible if I need care. It used to be $500 and my rates are even higher.

    Affordable? No.

How did that happen? Oh look I’m subsidizing yours.

California just approved Obamacare for illegals. So now I can pay for Mexico too.

  6. That is exactly what is happening:

The Obama administration late Monday afternoon disclosed more state Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act health insurance exchanges are also requesting stunningly large average health insurance premium hikes, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois asking for an average 29 percent spike and Highmark Health Insurance Co. of Pennsylvania asking for a 30 percent spike, according to the Wall Street Journal.

This grim news follows reporting that New Mexico’s market leader ,Health Care Service Corp. is asking for an average premium spike of 51.6 percent. In addition, Tennessee’s top insurer, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee wants an average spike of 36.3 percent; Maryland’s market leader, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, requested an average spike of 30.4 percent; and Oregon’s top insurer, Moda Health, is seeking a 25 percent spike.

But now insurance companies across the nation are seeing their costs leap due to high utilization costs from people newly enrolled under Obamacare. Insurance companies demanding dramatically higher compensation are causing skyrocketing rates.

The real question is, who will the federal government rob to pay for their mistakes?

Who do you think? It will be those trying to pay on a mortgage for a home that lost 40% of it’s value.

That kind of help I don’t need from the government.

  7. Trainmanswife you are a piece of work. How do you know a damn thing about Lupe? You and Rat like to talk a lot of mess about illegals abusing welfare when you’re probably sitting around collecting welfare and disability yourselves for some “back problem.” How’s that for ugly assumptions?

  8. McSally is all about the A-10. Women, not so much, unless it’s freedom to not where a burka in the middle east. There’s no doubt in my mind that she is told how to vote on women’s issues, and she better toe the line, or she’ll have a primary challenger.
The republican party is dead, but like a chicken running around with its head cut off, they don’t know it yet.

  9. Well, one of the only good things about McSally is that she is kinda, just there.

She won’t be writing and introducing any legislation. She is simply a placeholder to vote yes or no depending on what her campaign contributors tell her to, not really different from ANY politician.

Truthfully, I heard more about “saving” the A-10 from Barber than I have heard from McSally.

Be careful what you wish for. A lot of people I know are reminiscing about Brewer since we got Ducey.
