While it’s still unclear where the lines will be for any of the state’s congressional districts, the clock is ticking towards next year’s election, so potential candidates are starting to emerge, even if they’re not exactly sure what they’re running for or who they’re running against.
Dave Sitton, currently the Global Marketing Director for the University of Arizona Cancer Center, but also known for his involvement in the sports world (and if you’re going by a Google search of the Tucson Weekly’s archives, a lot of billboard related drama during his time with Eller Media and Clear Channel), has announced that he has formed an exploratory committee to run for what will be (if the current map holds up) District 2, most of which is currently District 8:
Businessman and broadcaster Dave Sitton today announced the formation of an exploratory committee for the United States House of Representatives, District 2.
“Our country has a significant number of challenges before it,” said Sitton. “We all know that. As Americans we are fortunate to have at our fingertips the greatest political document in the history of the world — the U.S. Constitution. With it, and some common sense, there is no doubt in my mind that America can reverse course and provide opportunities for prosperity for those who seek it.
“In a political and economic environment characterized by low morale and despair, I am committed to promoting economic growth, hope, and opportunity in both Southern Arizona and the country.”
The new exploratory committee will allow Mr. Sitton to travel the district to measure support for a full-fledged Congressional run. The final decision is planned for early in 2012.
For what it’s worth, this is the same theoretical seat that Frank Antenori is “exploring” a run for.
This article appears in Nov 10-16, 2011.

Dan Gibson neglects to explore why UMC Cancer Center (or any other cancer center) thinks it simply must have a Global Marketing Director. Seriously, GLOBAL?
Anyway, here ‘ya go on the salesman:

And no mention that Frank Antenori continues to toil away for Raytheon…
Dave Sitton? Really? I guess to qualify to run as a Republican you must first obey Jim Click. Sitton will be no more than an inexperienced puppet of Jim Click. Sitton who got laid off from Clear Chanel, a nice way of putting, “GOT FIRED!”, has no political experience at all. Only thing Sitton has going for him is the funding of Jim Click, who is looking for a puppet to do what he tells him to do. I am appaulled at seeing Sitton would even think of running. Think this has anything to do with Click being angry that he can’t control Antenori? Discusting politics by Jim Click.
By all means run two morons like Jesse Kelly and Antnori…cave men with the intelligence of thus…at least Dave Sitton can think!
