Congressman Ron Barber and his GOP challenger, Martha McSally, have both released their third-quarter fundraising totals today.

Barber edged out McSally, raising $788,652 to her $479,998. Since Aug. 8, when the campaigns filed pre-primary reports, the money race has been closer, with Barber raising $475,876 and McSally raising $432,966.

Barber had the advantage in cash on hand as of Sept. 30: $549,223 to $298,797.

A finance report filed today with the Federal Election Commission shows continued momentum for Ron Barber’s reelection campaign. Ron Barber for Congress raised $788,652 between July 1st and September 30th and $475,876 during the most recent filing period, from August 9th to September 30th. The campaign filed with $549,223 cash on hand.

Since declaring his candidacy in February for the special election for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, Barber has raised more than $2,280,000 from over 10,000 contributors.

“These newest fundraising totals show yet again that Southern Arizonans are standing with Ron and supporting his work in Congress to rebuild our middle class, protect seniors, and fight for veterans and military families,” said Jessica Floyd, Campaign Manager for the Ron Barber campaign. “From introducing bipartisan legislation to secure our border and protect our veterans to voting to extend tax cuts for middle class families, Ron has been standing up for Southern Arizona. People across this community are sending the message loud and clear that they want Ron to continue that work. ”

The Barber campaign’s latest fundraising totals come on the heels of Barber receiving the endorsements of The Arizona Republic, Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Weekly, with all three citing his independence and focus on the needs of his constituents in Southern Arizona.

Today the McSally for Congress campaign release their third quarter fundraising totals. Since the August 8th, pre-primary report, the campaign has raised a total of $432,966. The campaign’s daily fundraising average since the last report is $8,169 per day over the last 53 days. The McSally for Congress campaign has had 1161 unique donors since the Special Election. The campaigns cash on hand for the end of the quarter is 298,797.35.

“Over these last several weeks it has become clear that the people of Southern Arizona want a new leader and new direction in Congress,” said Martha McSally. “I am not a politician, when I see something broken, I fix it. And that’s what the people of Southern Arizona have seen since I entered the political realm a few months ago and why so many have so graciously contributed to our campaign to change Congress.

“In 22 days the people of this great district will make a choice, and that choice is clear: A career bureaucrat and politician who will continue the debt, spending and economic collapse; or a leader and warrior who will stand up for what is right – no matter what. I’ll keep working these last 22 days to earn the trust and vote of the people of Southern Arizona until the last vote is counted.”

Martha McSally is the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, and first to command a fighter squadron in combat in United States history. In 2001-2002, Martha McSally earned national recognition for successfully overturning a military policy requiring all U.S. servicewomen to wear Muslim clothing when off base in Saudi Arabia.

  2. Well if representing the people of CD 2 involved flying a fighter jet on a regular basis, then Ms. McSally would be the obvious choice, as we are frequently reminded. Since it doesn’t involve fighter jets at all, however, I’m not sure what exactly she brings to the table other than tired rhetoric.

    I’d totally vote for her for first-female-fighter-pilot-in-chief, though.

  3. Gridlock in Congress can only be overcome by electing some fresh faces in the House & Senate. I’m ready to take a chance on McSally. Elective office should be public service and NOT a profession.

  4. They keep saying in McSally’s ads that shes the first woman fighter pilot ever to fight in combat?
    I think this is one more “LIE” we can live whit out.

  5. The sad part is that no one would have ever voted for Ron Barber if he hadn’t been shot at Safeway. He was used to operating very behind the scenes (and for good reason) until then.

  6. I am sorry, but we need someone, who is for the people of Arizona, not a “carpetbagger” to represent us. She had a choice of two states and she picked Arizona. She obviously, from her speeches and TV Ads, has a HUGE EGO AND IT IS ALL ABOUT HER, not the residence of Arizona. Her Manager, who gave info to the U of A, that she fired, was told by Senator Kyle or McCain not to worry,so they gave Sam Stone an Executive position with Freedom Works. What does that say about McSally? She has many people baffled, but there are many in the Military and in her district, who KNOW who she really is!!!! Not good for Arizona.
