Here are 10 reasons why Kyrsten Sinema must go away. In fact, the very concept of Kyrsten Sinema must go away. And she must go away now. Not next year or, God help us, in 2024, when we Arizonans who actually give a damn about our state and country find a primary candidate to knock the multi-colored crap out of her.

We can’t recall her. The Republicans in the Senate certainly won’t do anything to her. She’s their staunchest (and strangest) ally. We’re going to have to trick her. We should get President Biden to appoint her as Ambassador to Cotton Candy Land, where everything is pink and sweet and there are no mean people trying to figure out what is bouncing around in that hollow head of hers.

1. She’s freakin’ nuts! Now, I know that it’s crazy for a layperson such as myself to try to psychoanalyze somebody, but this one’s easy. Maybe she’s one of those high-functioning sociopaths that we see in the movies. Those things never end well.

2. Her absurd fascination with the filibuster is allowing Senate Republicans to run out the clock on this vital legislative session (nothing will get done next year because it’s a midterm election year) while their counterparts in various state governments do all they can to make future elections for whites only, thus ensuring that America’s clear majority will be disenfranchised, ignored, and maybe even subjugated by tyrants who will do anything to cling to minority power for the next few years.

She’s like the basketball player standing in the lane on defense who watches somebody drive straight to the basket for a layup. When asked later why she didn’t help, she will say, “I had my man; she didn’t score.” When America turns into something that’s not America, how hollow will her words sound when she says, “I stood up for the filibuster, an outdated and horribly misused anachronism.”

3. She and her partner in gross incompetence, West Virgina Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, are content to fiddle while democracy burns. And it’s burning.

4. She’s the most embarrassing member of Congress from Arizona and that’s really saying something. You might figure that it’s Andy Biggs, who got up in front of God and everybody and put in the official Congressional record that he doesn’t know who won the presidential vote in Arizona in 2020. He does. They all do. It’s just that, between them, they don’t have the combined capacity of one testicle and therefore can’t bring themselves to utter the truth. Biggs’ justification for repeating the Big Lie: He claims that someone who worked at a polling station “had some concerns.”

Paul Gosar, who is openly racist and anti-Semitic, is worse than Andy Biggs. But at least we know where both of those talking rectums stand. They don’t pretend to care about democracy or fairness or skin that’s darker than Dolly Parton’s. They’re just really bad people doing really bad things for really bad reasons. But at least they don’t pretend to be something else.

Sinema pretends to be serious, but she’s a buffoon.

5. Her backstory keeps changing. That’s a major red flag.

6. Forget about being the most embarrassing Arizona politician right now. She’s the most embarrassing EVER. Evan Mecham can now rest in peace, having passed on the mantle.

7. She’s like the idiot who has a bumper sticker that reads “I’m a maverick.” True mavericks would never feel the need to publicly self-identify. And neither do they ostentatiously attempt to prove it on a daily basis.

8. I know that it’s a matter of personal style (or complete lack thereof) and Lord knows no one will ever accuse me of being a slave to fashion, but I’m not a United States Senator, for goodness sake! How does she expect anybody to take her seriously when she shows up to work dressed like she spent the night on a park bench after being thrown out of the monster truck rally for being too obnoxious?

I completely understand that no man should EVER tell a woman how to dress, but she is in Washington doing a job for her constituents. She’s got to know that many of the knuckleheads with whom she must deal (at least partially) judge her by her appearance. If she wants to be taken seriously, maybe she can start by taking herself seriously.

9. We have no idea where she stands on anything. She doesn’t make statements, she doesn’t give interviews, she doesn’t do her damn job. It’s painfully obvious that what Kyrsten Sinema wants is for people to be obsessed with trying to figure out what Kyrsten Sinema wants. I’m firmly convinced that there’s no there, there.

10. She was elected under false pretenses. She caught the luckiest of breaks, running in a midterm year against a horribly flawed Republican candidate (Martha McSally) who had doomed her chances by tying herself to the worst president in United States history. (McSally would stupidly repeat that mistake in 2020, all the while being humiliated by Trump.)

I HATE that I voted for Sinema. She’s a fraud and a danger. Her political career is over. She can’t win in 2024. Republicans won’t vote for her because she’s not a Republican and Democrats won’t vote for her because she’s not a Democrat.

She should leave now before she can do any more harm.

  1. Some species eat their young. Dumbocrats are included in that group. The cancel culture in full view!!!!

  2. Spot on.
I was thinking Sinema might be a Kardashian in disguise. She seems to be in it for the celebrity status only.

  3. Sinema is easy to understand. She is showboating so if and when an important vote comes down, she can mosey in, Maverick style, and do a John McCain, Thumbs up or Thumbs down. That is her only purpose.

  4. Temper Tantrum Tommy is angry because she won’t put the country deeper in debt.

Pass the bill then you can read it, won’t work for non stupid people. Maybe she is one.

Explain this. In the $5T spend-o-rama they include the need for a four year college degree to work at a Pre k program. Then ask me to pay tuition for them.

    Indoctrinate much?????

  5. Replace the “she” with he and you will see exactly what the public and even in the media are saying about the President.

“We have no idea where she stands on anything. She doesn’t make statements, she doesn’t give interviews, she doesn’t do her damn job.”

Drugs, crime and cartels surge at the border. Gas prices have been forced up by his actions. His created inflation is robbing the working poor as it always will. Lifelong employees are being fired for refusing to take the “medicine.” Freedoms have eroded and democracy has been replaced with authoritarianism.

Why such ignorance Tom Danehy? Why?

By the way, what HAS Mark Kelly done for AZ this year? He gets a free pass also?

  6. “I completely understand that no man should EVER tell a woman how to dress,” sez Uncle Tom, but then he proceeds to not only tell Sinema how to dress, but to slut-shame her and question her intelligence and sanity in the way that men do when women either don’t agree with them or do things that men don’t understand.

Whatever Sinema’s perspective on her own position is, her motivations are indeed clear, and so is what she stands for. She rakes in huge amounts of campaign money from the pharmaceutical industry, and then does what the pharmaceutical industry wants. Fill in various other corporate powers, and the equation is clear and consistent. She is playing the same game that the vast majority of other members of Congress play. Is that so hard to understand? It’s standard operating procedure for corporate Ds in the Senate who are owned by the same powerful interests that own the Rs, which is the primary reason the Dumbocrats “can’t get anything done”, even when they occasionally manage to beat the scumbags and noodleheads that the Republinazis run against them.

And sorry to break it to you, little Virginia Danehy, but there is no Santa Claus. America is not in danger of “turning into something that’s not America”. America was founded on white supremacy for the benefit of the few white, wealthy, powerful men who founded it, and it’s been running on wealthy, patriarchal white supremacy ever since. The ideal “America” that everybody loves to glorify is the Biggest Lie of all. It has never existed.

The point is to make “America” something better than it’s always been. And in that respect, while Kyrsten Sinema is almost certainly not stupid or insane, she is indeed a huge roadblock.

  7. Show me anyone who can get anything done in the three-ring circus (U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and Executive Branch) that has been going on for far too long in Washington D.C. — the D.C. standing for disappointed citizens — through both Republican and Democratic administrations.

First-time Senator Kyrsten Sinema has been more involved in trying to move the ball forward than any of the representatives Arizona has fielded since John McCain, but navigating the Foggy Bottom Swamp has never been easy and with all those boggy creatures more concerned about their political games than the country and people they were put in place to represent it has not gotten any easier.

I think the real issue here is a lot of people — especially the ones who like to Monday-morning quarterback from the safety of their man-caves — do not like the idea that somethings have to be done behind closed doors in government because all that transparency people think is good actually makes it harder for compromise. If you doubt that, think about how well Washington used to work before C-SPAN started to become a platform for political hacks, which later transmogrified into the 24/7 coverage of politics by the other media outlets that is more about advertisers selling crap to idiots sandwiched between more and more outrageous sound and video bytes by more and more radicalized politicians, not to mention the opinion and analysis (just another word for opinions) from the talking heads the media churns out to “inform” the American people.

Picking on people who are different is easy, especially for school-yard bullies and long-ago sports jocks who use weaponized words to hide their own insecurities, but until they have been on the front lines of the modern trench warfare that is what Washington has become, they would do better to continue spinning stories about their old glory days and how they are trying to pass on sage advice about sports as an allegory for life.

  8. Sorry to disagree with you on point 5, but Kyrsten is not the most embarrassing Arizona politician ever. Sure she’s bad, but she’s not even in the top three. You have to go a lot further to match up with Ol’ Ev, Fife Symington, and Raul Castro. “Most Embarrassing Senator” is probably the appropriate honorific.

  9. Cinema was on CNN tonight and explained her position. It was intelligent and we’ll thought out. She explains how Pelosi and Sanders caused it all. I like her.

  10. “2. Her absurd fascination with the filibuster is allowing Senate Republicans to run out the clock on this vital legislative session “

Hyperbole much? “Vital legislative session”? Nothing Congress does is vital. We would be much better off if they all stayed home.

BTW, as in all things, O’Biden was for the filibuster before he was against it.

  11. For some reason this publication will not present or promote the top five progressive positions. Let’s take a look at them and vote our favorites in order.

    1. Massive government spending will reduce inflation.

    2. Spending trillions with government contractors will reduce the world’s temperatures.

    3. Open borders slows the flow of illegal drugs.

    4. Releasing prisoners and eliminating jails will reduce crime.

    5. Defunding police makes everyone safer.

  12. Somehow I completely forgot progressive truth number six.

Destroying US oil production and cancelling Keystone pipeline while begging Saudi to increase oil production will reduce gas costs.

And then there was number seven.

    7. Inflation helps the poor.

How many more can there be? Please add them as you see fit.

  13. I’m not happy with how ms sinema has turned out. Very disappointed. But Tom…your over the top here. Worst ever…nuts…idiot….!!! Name calling is your forte’ Tom but c’mon lighten up and give good, solid reasons for your disdain of sinema. My list is growing and it’s a long time ’till 2024.

  14. Sometimes Tom gets so worked up that you’d think he’s just discovered politics. Plus ca change, Tom.

  15. “Talking Rectums”?

Is that anything like the Danehy family…aka “Blabbering Sphincters”?

    Asking for a friend.

  16. Lying Tom Danehy wrote:
“Her absurd fascination with the filibuster is allowing Senate Republicans to run out the clock on this vital legislative session…”

    and

“I stood up for the filibuster, an outdated and horribly misused anachronism.” (One of Tommy’s oft used tropes: make up an imagined fake quote to denigrate someone. This time Kyrsten Sinema).

The only person who has an “absurd fascination” with the filibuster is Lying Tom when it is being used by Republicans.

When Democrats were in the minority in the Senate in 2017, 30 of them signed a bipartisan letter to Senate leadership to preserve the filibuster stating: “This letter demonstrates that a majority of the Senate, both Republicans and Democrats, can come together to protect an important tradition of the Senate that recognizes the rights of the minority and makes bipartisan legislation more likely,”

Here are just a few of the times the Democrats used the filibuster under President Trump:

2019 – Blocked the Pentagon budget and other spending bills.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/461975…

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/468368…

2020 – They used it twice to block H.R. 748 – The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (The CARES Act).

    https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/rol…

    https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/rol…

2020 – Used to block S.178 – Uighur Act of 2019 – Bill to condemn and sanction China for its human rights violations against the Uighurs in Xinjiang, but it had a Coronavirus spending amendment attached and the Democrats didn’t want Republicans to get credit for Coronavirus relief before the election so they filibustered it twice.

    https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/rol…

    https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/rol…

2020 – Used to block S.3985 – Justice Act – Bill to improve police policies and accountability. The bill was sponsored by Tim Scott and again Democrats didn’t want Republicans to get credit for police reform before the election, so they filibustered it.

    https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/rol…

And on and on and on during President Trump’s term. That is just a few of the bills that actually came to vote.

Far more bills never made it to the floor of the Senate because Democrats threatened to filibuster them.

Where was Tom Danehy’s whining about the filibuster then?

In Lying Tom’s world, the filibuster used to block majority Republican legislation during President Trump’s term: Good.

The filibuster used to block Democratic legislation during President Biden’s term: Bad.

Tommy Danehy is nothing more than a partisan political hack.

  17. She’s not going anywhere. Not now, not between now and 2024, and not in 2024. Much as you like to think of Tucson as being just one ass hair to the right of Portland or AOC’s district, you’re wrong. And watching cockroaches like you squirm is glorious.

  18. I have never in my entire life thought that the filibuster (in any form) was a good thing. I believe that the majority should rule in all cases (including–and especially–in Presidential elections). I don’t care if Sinema (and Manchin) want to pretend to be all fiscally conservative when it comes to President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. But her defense of the filibuster when Republicans all across the country are passing un-American laws designed to keep certain citizens from exercising their right to vote is unconscionable. If she plays a part in preventing Congress from protecting the voting rights of all Americans, her name should go down in infamy.

  19. Lying Tom Danehy wrote: “True mavericks would never feel the need to publicly self-identify.”

This is Lying Tom’s attempt to stealthily express his homophobia, but anyone who is familiar with Tommy knows what he is talking about.

His hatred for Kyrsten Sinema because of her sexuality is well documented.

Homophobic Tom Danehy wrote to Kyrsten Sinema: “First off, enough with the bio stuff. You’re bisexual? So what? I suppose some people might tell you to make up your damn mind, but as far as I can tell, the only people who care about that stuff are televangelists and porn directors. “ Tucson Weekly, 13 May 2021

One has to wonder what Homophobic Tom would write to Senator Tammy Baldwin and Secretary Pete Buttigieg about them both self-identifying in their official government biographies.

    Tammy Baldwin

“Tammy was elected to the U.S. Senate on November 6, 2012, winning a hard fought race and making history as Wisconsin’s first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate and the first openly gay member elected to the Senate.”

    https://www.baldwin.senate.gov/about

    Pete Buttigieg

“He was confirmed by the Senate on February 2, 2021, becoming the first openly gay person confirmed to serve in a president’s Cabinet.

Secretary Buttigieg lives with his husband Chasten and their rescue dogs, Buddy and Truman.”

    https://www.transportation.gov/meet-secret…

Tom must really get wound up and grind his teeth every time Secretary Buttigieg is on TV with his husband and their new babies.

Lying Tom wrote: “I know that it’s crazy for a layperson such as myself to try to psychoanalyze somebody, but…”

Tom ought to turn his amateur psychiatry on himself and spend a little time in self-reflection. He will soon realize what studies have been telling us for years: homophobes, especially vocal homophobes are self-loathing latent homosexuals themselves.

It is OK Tom. You can self-identify here.

The Tucson Weekly community will be more accepting of you than you are of Kyrsten Sinema.

  20. Sinema aside Tommy, how much of our economy must Biden destroy, to build back better?

I didn’t vote for crazy. He inherited a strong economy and has torn it apart.

  21. If you keep attacking her she will leave your party and take half the democrats with her. You will never win another election. Shut up and take your medicine.

  22. I wasnt sure about her at first, but now- I like her! Shes empowered to make the right decisions for the state and not the socialist party. Id vote for her again on that merit alone. Tom should be living in Seattle and working for The Strangers love therapist Dan Savage.

  23. “Tom should be living in Seattle and working for The Strangers love therapist Dan Savage. “

No, the best he can do is write (badly) for a circling-the-drain, left-wing weekly tabloid.

  24. Damn!
    Wish I’d written this.
Sinema may not know who she is and folks may still be trying to figure her out.
All I know is that politically, she IS toast…
    Be well.

  25. Damn, there are a lot of batshit crazy folks in Tucson. Ironically, they all read Danehy more than the Bible. They also write the silliest comments. Why are they so fascinated by and dedicated to reading with the Weekly? Are there no KKK publications available?

  26. Very well written, a very nice read. You tore her a second one.

She is a sad piece of waste.
