Stephen Glover, best known as Steve-O, is a TV personality, stunt performer, comedian, bestselling author and podcast host known for his work on the “Jackass” franchise. He is now in his 50s and continues to engage audiences and risk his life on a regular basis.
The comedian recently performed at Desert Ridge Improv Friday through Sunday, Aug. 14 to 16, as part of the Crash & Burn Tour.
Steve-O brings a unique style of standup, intermixing video footage with jokes. The stunts that he highlights were filmed for the tour.
Before the show even started, the venue played clips of Steve-O, in which he talked about his life and his work.
Videos during the show highlighted Steve-O doing stunts such as learning to pole dance and performing at a club, getting crash-test themed and penis tattoos on his face and head, driving a car into a wall, sitting in a car while it was pushed down a hill, doing a magic show where he pulled items out of his butt, inserting soda and mint candies into his butt and driving a smart car out of an airplane.
His standup act highlights Steve-O’s skills as a storyteller. He is known for being funny, but he can weave a compelling tale as well.
There are reoccurring characters in the show, including Robert the Mechanic and Steve-O’s smart car. Oh, the lengths he went to in order to wreck this smart car.
During the show, Steve-O got vulnerable a few times, sharing details of his personal life with the audience. He talked openly about his struggles with addiction and his determination to still do crazy stunts and stay fit as he ages.
The show is meant for adult audiences 18 and older. Many of the videos showed Steve-O partially or fully naked. His genitals and butt were not off limits.
Some of the video footage is cringe-worthy because it is more graphic than what is typically shown on TV or YouTube.
While not all of his plans for the tour came to fruition, such as getting breast implants, Steve-O still talked about them during the show.
In videos, audiences get a chance to see familiar faces from the “Jackass” series, including Johnny Knoxville. Steve-O also talked about “Jackass” costars such as Wee Man.
Steve-O brings out the wild side of any crowd. By the end of the Sunday show, audience members were asking him to show his butt.
They were a raucous bunch, cheering his antics with boisterous cheers and applause.
The tour fits with Steve-O’s body of work and showcases his versatility as a comedian and storyteller.
Audiences are left to wonder just how he will top himself with future stunts.
