Marc Haberman knows a thing or two about energy.
For the past 30 years, he’s worked as a holistic health practitioner, and his house in the 3100 block of East Presidio Road has served as the Tucson Natural Bed and Breakfast for 25 years.
Anyone who’s set foot in Haberman’s home knows that the shoes come off at the door, a precautionary measure to keep outdoor energies separate from the indoor kind.
Haberman likes where he lives, in the Cabrini neighborhood near Country Club and Fort Lowell roads. He co-founded the Cabrini Neighborhood Association and has been its president for the past 13 years. He said his mission is to make the neighborhood a safe place to live and to improve the quality of life for residents.
But the looming possibility of an AT&T cell tower right across the street at St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church has Haberman and about 200 other neighborhood residents concerned about possible health risks from the tower.
Plans to install the tower were announced last September through a notice mailed to residents living within 300 feet of the proposed location. Haberman, who lives directly across the street, didn’t like the message.
“When the intention of constructing a cell tower was announced, we really saw that as questionable,” Haberman said. “The more I researched it, the more I found out, the more concerned I became.”
Haberman’s concerns are based on research that suggests people living near cell towers can develop neurological diseases and even cancer. The theory has yet to be widely adopted in the scientific community.
Haberman also discovered that he wasn’t alone in his concerns. Within 12 hours of receiving his notice, he had contacted Elizabeth Kelley, a Tucsonan who has advocated against cellphone towers in residential areas since the mid-’90s.
Kelley has remained in the forefront of advocacy for electromagnetic radiation safety, co-founding the Electromagnetic Safety Alliance, a nationwide organization. After winning a battle in 1996 against Sprint for installing a tower at the church she attended in California, Kelley went on to appeal FCC standards for cell towers, going as far as the Supreme Court.
Those standards include a provision in the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that prohibits city and state agencies from considering health risks when approving or denying an application for a cell tower.
Kelley cites a 2011 article in Science of the Environment, a peer-reviewed journal. The article examined deaths from cancer in the vicinity of cell towers in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and found that residents living closest to the towers had the greatest risk.
Haberman said he and Kelley have been trying to educate Cabrini residents about the tower’s alleged health risks and have collected about 200 signatures from neighbors who oppose the tower.
Although their efforts have swayed some opinions, other residents said they have no problem with a tower.
Fran Garcia lives three blocks east of Haberman’s house. Until the cell tower became an issue, Garcia had served with Haberman on the neighborhood association’s steering committee. Garcia stepped down after becoming disgruntled by how Haberman chose to protest the tower installation, saying he had become “dictator” of the association.
“As a neighborhood association, you need to be calming people, you need to be neutral on these hot-button political issues,” Garcia said. “Instead, he’s going out and he’s frightening our residents. … He’s formed a group; he has opposition signage that is terrifically offensive (displayed) outside of his home; he started having protests at the church at Mass time.”
Garcia claims the conflict has ruined the neighborhood association’s relationship with the church, which had provided the association with a meeting place and other resources. St. Francis officials declined to comment on the dispute. AT&T would pay the church for the use of its land.
Karen Kruse, a spokeswoman for AT&T, said the cell tower’s purpose was to fill gaps in AT&T’s coverage so that customers have a “world-class experience,” and emphasized that the company is following FCC guidelines.
“We fall far below what … the FCC has determined to be even remotely dangerous for human consumption,” Kruise said.
But as far as Kelley is concerned, those guidelines are aren’t strict enough.
The Cabrini neighborhood is represented on the Tucson City Council by Karin Uhlich, who said she supports a resolution recently proposed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors that would allow the county’s health department to examine public health risks from structures like cell towers.
Uhlich added that she’d like to see neighbors work toward a resolution among themselves.
The tower still needs approval from the City Council, which could vote on the issue April 18. Until then, Kelley and Haberman said they plan to spark more public discussion about the risks the tower poses.
“I know some very smart people living there have said that they’re just going to move, that they don’t feel comfortable living there now,” Kelley said. “They’re afraid.”
Meanwhile, neighbors like Garcia say opposition to the tower is useless. “The Catholic Church is not going to step aside because of Mr. Marc Haberman,” Garcia said. “They need this money in order to carry on.”
The issue has “really turned into a nasty little dispute, and it’s a shame,” Garcia added, “because the neighborhood is going to suffer for it.”

I can’t believe you devoted an entire page to this pseudo-scientific claptrap. As someone who worked in the cellular industry for over a decade, beginning when there were only a few towers in Tucson and phones were the size of a brick, I can assure your readers that the typical cellular technician working in the radio building at the bottom of the tower is exposed to as much RF (radio frequency radiation) in a year as Marc Haberman will be exposed to in his entire life. And that is if he uses a cell phone daily. I started in the business when the radios in phones were 10 times more powerful than they are today, and the frequencies lower (more penetrating). This was almost 20 years ago, far beyond the time it takes cancers to develop. Neither I nor anyone I worked with has had any adverse health effects from our job. If you search the web, you will find that not one study has shown an increased cancer rate in the group with most exposure, which is me and my colleagues. The exposure living next to a cell tower is miniscule to that which we experienced daily. The health risks here are about as “potential” as those posed by “chemtrails” or HAARP.
Are these Neighborhood Associations legal? Did someone voted these guys to ‘represent’ their neighborhood? Since when did these Neighborhood Associations have the right to control your biggest investment, house and not to mention, your life? You purchase a house and decide to replace your front door…and all of a sudden someone you never met orders you not to replace your front door because it’s against the neighborhood’s rules! One of these days, I would love to see these ‘associations’ visit the Supreme Court and declared invalid or better , a group of developers, sue these associations to the point of bankruptcy!!!
Lawyer: You are confusing neighborhood associations with homeowner associations (HOAs). The former are chartered by the City of Tucson, and that includes The Cabrini Neighborhood Association, which was founded in 1999. Neighborhood associations do not have the power to tell you you can’t replace your front door, and they generally operate by democratic process and do not charge dues.
Neighborhood Associations or HOAs SHOULD both be ILLEGAL . I agree with Lawyer against N. A. NAs and HOAs are a detriment to progress. They have been hijacked by a few who want to force their own selfish utopian paradise to the many! It’s only a matter of time before these ILLEGAL groups get showered with lawsuits!! You’ll see.
There is over 6 decades of published science demonstrating how electromagnetic fields, manmade and naturally occuring, interact with biology and where overexposure can damage living cells is well established. See The BioInitiative Report (http://www.bioinitaitive.org) prepared by 24 scientists and medical doctors . See the International Commission on Electromagnetic Safety (http://www.icems.eu). The FCC’s radiofrequency exposure guidelines are only based on avoiding a heating effect of tissue based on up to 30 minutes of public exposure and do not protect workers or the general public against adverse health effects due to chronic exposure to increased levels of electrical/microwave pollution. Occupational studies show that telecommunications and electrical workers and military personnel are the most at risk. A.M. Best, the top liability expert for the insurance industry world wide warns “The continued exponential growth of cellular towers will significantly increase exposure to these workers and others coming into close contact with high-energy cell phone antenna radiation. Occupational studies are often give indications on what studies on the general population would show later as workers are more exposed to toxic agents” (http://ambest.com). Studies on comunities where there are cell phone antennas show increased rates of disease due to chronic exposure to antennas at a distance of 1640 feet or more. The World Health Organization classifies non-ionizing radiation from all sources, including electrial power and communications purposes, as a possible human carcinogen. Cell towers do not belong in residential neighborhoods. Precaution is advised as a preventive measure.
To those who do not acknowledge the facts of the harm and danger posed by electromagnetic frequency because it is invisible, some students from Sweden won an award for painting with light and using special photographic settings to capture its image.

Everyone needs to get educated and share their knowledge.
Mr. Haberman is doing exactly what we did in my neighborhood to defeat a 104′ cell tower. That was in 1999, and I was approached by an industry executive to lead a neighborhood fight against the tower. He shared science from the 1990’s proving the negative neurological and immunological impact on human beings, and the science has only grown stronger. It is difficult for some people to understand, because both the government and World Health Organization websites grossly downplay the risks. But one has only to look the the abundant conflicts of interests within the WHO, and understand how much the US gov’t relies on wireless to fuel the economy. Yet the health risks are real, and must be considered extremely carefully. I organized a brain study of firefighters who lived in the shadow of a cell tower in 2004, and we found brain damage in all 6 men tested after 5 yrs of exposure. These are the strongest of the strong . . . what about women, children, and the unborn, as well as the elderly and those with impaired health? I urge you to fight this tower with everything you have. Mr. Garcia, any financial benefit for the church will be far outweighed by negative health consequences for you and other neighbors. This is deadly serious. In spite of the telecom industry influence in the WHO, they still voted RF (microwave) radiation a 2b “possible human” carcinogen. Is the risk really worth it?
Francis has come out in his inaugural homily strongly in favor of protecting the environment. Knowing this theis Catholic church surely is not listening to their leader. Knowing too what I have learned since the 1990s when I started investigating EMF I think the people need to come before AT&T profit. Read the BioInitiative 2012 Report. It pretty much sums it up. Shame on this church!
I am opposed to cell towers and so called ‘smart’ meters on or near public buildings such as schools, hospitals & churches. It creates a lot of suffering for people that are sensitive and have to be there. There is a beautiful visual study from Spain registering electromagnetic Symptoms based on distance to a Cell Phone Base Station. Go to http://takebackyourpower.net/video-how-smart-meters-affect-your-body/ At marker 20:02 on the video, Video: How Smart Meters Affect Your Body (Dr. Darren Schmidt), the cell phone base station demonstrates that the people that were closest to the based station had the most extreme symptoms and the people that were farthest away had the least symptoms. Although people at the church may not be aware of the damaging effect of pulsed microwave EMF, if they really take time to become educated about the harmful effects of the proposed tower, they will understand and be glad that the people in their area cared enough about safety to make a stand on this issue!
I am opposed to cell towers, smart meters, television, cell phones, dishwashers, dryers, air conditioners, heaters, anything electric including the electromagnetic field around the earth! Boo Hoo!
…meanwhile, the other billions of people who used cell phones and the millions who live close to a cell tower are still alive and well. However, I am sad to say thousands of people died from car accidents last year therefore, let’s boycott the car especially the electric car and the car battery.
Listen here you people who talk crap saying this is nonsence. I have a cell tower 20 meters from my house. I have lived here 2 years and I am on the waiting list to be checked for a neurological disorder. I have no history of any. I suffer headaches and many other issues when I am at my home or within 150 meters of this cell tower. I started living in a tent on a beach and my health has been really good.
The man who lives behind me suffers headaches and nose bleeds. On the other side of this tower, the woman has developed breast cancer and also suffers headaches the husband has heart palpitations. Another woman a few houses up developed renal failure 3 years after being within 100 meters of this tower. I can tell you now, 50% of people winin 50 meters all suffer EHS now. I am one of them. EHS is develop from 24-7 exposure to RF Radiation.
So take your doubting crap elsewhere because all over the world, where these things are people are suffering, getting cancer and also dieing….
another woman 100meters from this tower died of cancer last year. there is a lot of sickness up to 150 meters from this tower.
Bravo! Nice story! Hey guys, we found the cause of cancer. Yes, cancer that’s known to kill people way before cell towers. Cut YOUR BULL CRAP BS!!!

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY – ‘CELL PHONES DOESN’T CAUSE CANCER’
Several years ago there was a local meeting to talk about a proposed cell tower. One activist went on and on and on about the danger of RF radiation. Then her cell phone rang and she left the meeting to take the call. I’m just betting the irony was completely lost on her.
Is the Dr. Warren Schmidt mentioned above the same Schmidt who is a chiropractor and scientologist? Oh, please, spare me this kind of ignorance.
Research on cell towers shows health risks. Read the research below. Still want that tower?
One notable study headed by Horst Eger in 2004 involving 1,000 patients showed that the proportion of newly developing cancer cases was three times higher among those patients who had lived during the past 10 years at a distance within 400 meters of a cell tower.
In another study in 2010, Dr. Siegal Sadetzki of Tel Aviv University, examined 622 people living from 3-7 years within 350 meters of a cell tower. They were compared to a group who lived further away. The results showed that there were over four times as many cancer patients from the area near the cell tower.
Other studies have been done on children living near TV and FM broadcast towers (emitting the same kind of radiation as cell towers). Dr. Bruce Hocking in Sidney Australia found that those children had more than twice the rate of leukemia than children living more than seven miles away.
In 2003, R. Santini, et al in Rennes, France conducted a study in which they found that people living within 300 meters of cell antennas reported the following disorders: “fatigue, sleep disturbances, headaches, difficulty concentrating, depression, memory loss, visual disruptions, irritability, hearing disruptions, skin problems, cardiovascular disorder and dizziness.
In the same year, E.A. Navarro in Valencia, Spain conducted a study in which he concluded that “exposed individuals that lived within 50-150 meters of the base station…experience more headaches, sleep disturbances, irritability, difficulty concentration, appetite loss and dizziness”.
In 2007, British researcher, Dr. John Walker compiled a series of cluster studies on the effects of cell tower radiation. Studies showed high incidences of cancer, brain hemorrhages and high blood pressure within a radius of 400 yards of mobile phone masts.
We had similar concerns when AT&T tried establishing a cell phone tower on, and then near an elementary school in our neighborhood. In addition to ruining the aesthetic and the views of our community, we were concerned about safety. We researched the issue and following quotes on the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) website which- at that time- read:
“There are some theoretical reasons why cellular phone towers would not be expected to increase cancer risk, and animal studies of radio frequencies (RF) have not suggested a risk of cancer.”
BUT….
“Cellular phone towers, like cellular phones themselves, are a relatively new technology, and we do not yet have full information on health effects. In particular, not enough time has elapsed to permit epidemiologic studies.”
… and also:
“The expert agencies that usually provide findings on carcinogenicity (whether something can cause cancer) – the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the National Toxicology Program (NTP), and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – have not issued findings on cellular phone towers.”
In this regards, the uncertainty regarding the long term impacts contributed to our concern, particlularly for our kids. Note that by law, concerns over health impacts could not be considered for AT&T’s request for a variance. In our case, we won the battle because the aesthetic impacts were enough to kill the proposal.
Given the Catholic Church’s focus on Christianity and caring for our neighbors, I do not think they are fully informed about this issue. As per the ACS statements, I would not want my own neighborhood to be a statistic in a long term study. In light of recognized uncertainties, I especially would not want my church to be associated with these features.
The full story summarizing our research and approach can be found here:
http://www.biod101.com/old/robins_old/ .
There, you will find a PDF copy of a letter from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that may be of interest to communities (and the Catholic Church) regarding uncertainties.
… And yes – cell phones are probably a bigger risk then cell phone towers; just read the health disclaimers (very very small print) that comes with your new phone. However, we have a choice as to whether we want to use a cell phone. When someone places a cell phone tower in your back yard, the only choice you have is to move.
There have been people in several countries in recent years who have reported a wide range of symptoms which they believe are related to exposure to radiation from cell phone towers and other sources. Their suffering is real. But (see the Wikipedia article on “electromagnetic hypersensitivity”) the only scientifically reputable, double-blind tests done on this matter have shown no correlation between individuals’ self-reporting of symptoms and the actual measurable amounts of electro-magnetic radiation in their environments. So, illness related to the kind of radiation emitted by cell phone towers is not a recognized medical or scientific diagnosis. Should we ban cell towers in residential areas anyway, just in case there really is a health threat from them?
If we as a society are to have cell phones, there must be a sufficient number of towers to insure reliable coverage. If none are allowed in residential neighborhoods, those neighborhoods will not have the best coverage, obviously. You may think that should be the choice of the individual neighborhoods. How would that work, exactly? Neighborhood associations typically only have a small percentage of residents who actually attend their meetings. Should these associations be able to decide?
But should cell phone towers be allowed even in nonresidential, industrial areas? It is worth pointing out that the supposedly idustrial areas in Tucson and Phoenix actually have many people living as well as working in them, mostly poor people. So, either there is no credible threat from cell phone tower radiation, or, if the threat is real, people who are fortunate enough to live in neighborhoods zoned as strictly residential can make enough of a protest to keep the towers out of their own backyards if they are willing to settle for spotty coverage to keep themselves safe, and those people who are the very poorest will bear the burden of all the radiation exposure. If they really believe the threat is real, the NIMBY folks should be willing to give up their own cell phones and campaign to rid the world of all the towers and the cell phones, which would be useless without the towers.
I don’t think anyone is suggesting we not have cell phone towers, but we should be smart about placement. Currently, there are rules that prevent placement in areas zoned as residential, but those rules don’t apply on school and church grounds. This is how AT&T circumvents restrictions on cell phone tower placement near homes, even though they are not supposed to be located in residential areas.
One can make the choice to not carry a cell phone (I don’t), but when AT&T places one of these towers next to a home or in the middle of a community or school, AT&T takes away the ability of residents to mitigate associated risks – no matter how small. AT&T is now taking advantage of cash-strapped schools and churches to locate features where they are not supposed to be, and I’m guessing they have lobbied for the existing laws that prevent municipalities from considering health risks for restrictions on placement.
It’s a shame the Catholic Church has alienated its community for the sake of making a few dollars. As long as there is no accountability of landowners to their neighbors, AT&T will continue to get its way. One way to easily fix this is to have the community pass the hat around and lease that same spot from the church for whatever AT&T is willing to pay. It’s not right, it’s not fair, and it will not help the image of the church in this community, but I suspect it will be effective.
The AT&T cell tower proposed for Robbins Elementary School on the west side of Tucson around 2007 was not installed after the TUSD Governing board learned about the potential health risks associated with long term exposure, especially for yong children, from the parents and EMF experts. This cell tower and other nearby cell tower proposals that followed were debated for about 2 years with strong local residential neighborhood opposition. The FCC recommends siting antennas in commercial and industrial, but not in residential neighborhoods. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpYjjRv2sG0. In 2009, the Pima County Supervisors adopted an EMF Resolution (2009-No.188) expressing their concern for the health and safety of their constituents; acknowledging that there is cause for concern about exposure to cell towers; acknowledging that the FCC human exposure guidelines are inadequate to protect health; and, calling for Congress to repeal the federal laws that preempt local control over the siting and management of “wireless communications facilities.”
I certainly hope someone shares this story and the comment thread with the officials at St. Francis. After all, I thought churches were about building communities and promoting love among our neighbors, not dividing them in exchange for the benefit of AT&T and a monthly check. I guess I’ve been naive, but it appears that the almighty dollar is all that matters, even where churches are concerned: Quote “St. Francis officials declined to comment on the dispute.” I would expect this kind of behavior from a insensitive corporation, but not a church; family values indeed 🙁
I think some of you people are really stupid. These are the Exact same radio waves used in your microwave oven. The only real difference is the wattage is turned right down. You see what it does to things you put in your oven. Are you really so stupid as to think you are immune to it?
This is the case of the Telecommunication Giant and their money used to buy researchers to make the studies in their favor. As soon as you get independents who prove there are real issues and consequences for everyone, they are discredited and made a mockery of. The Governments are getting money from the Telecommunications companies to erect their towers. Bribe money.
If you really think this is all crap, go live next to a cell tower, come back in 2 years and tell us your thoughts then. I know for a fact your attitudes will change. Before we purchased this house I believed they must be safe for the Government to allow them. Since moving here, me and my dog have become really ill. then there are others close to the tower who are till too. I woman already dead and a few dogs. All from cancer funny enough. All live within 100 meters of the tower.
wake up to the facts and stop caring more about your mobile reception than peoples lives!
From reading info on the tower at Cabrini two – five ton air conditioning units are needed to cool the tower. What is the reason for this cooling? Must be hotter than hot. Radiation is then hot from cell towers? Is this the same type radiation burns that people got at Chernobyl, Hiroshima and Nagasake? Just asking questions. Then what is the reason people at church want to be so close to such incredible heat or whatever and also expose the neighbors. I don’t understand but seems pretty self evident the tower must be capable of burning or cooking just like a microwave oven. Do I want to be cooked like a turkey? No thank you. Do you? (Maybe it is a different type radiation at Chernobyl, Hiroshima and Nagasake but these people were cooked.) Is this a type of science we can live with?
Dear just asking questions: The electronic components generate heat, same as the regular old fashioned heat that comes from your toaster. That (regular old heat) is bad for electonics, so large AC units are needed to cool them down so they can last. Ever noticed the heat coming from your computer, which is why it has a little fan. Notice the heat coming from your TV? Same kind of heat. It has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with radiation.
This is an honest question: Have any of you people ever taken a college level course in physics. Or even a high school physics class. It is astonishing how little you know about our physical world.
ps Doing your “research” on the Internet doesn’t usually count because as you ought to know any nutcase can post utter drivel. If you want to do research, on any topic, look for peer reviewed articles that actually disect the pros and cons. The “research” most of you do with a quick search is called confirmation bias, where you look for articles that agree with your notions. Not a good idea if you are looking for real answers.
Dear “just asking question”. I agree – research is important – and knowing the source of the research is also significant. Please note that the research referenced in this comment thread are not sourced to some “nutcase”, rather they are sourced to the American Cancer Society, the EPA, and the World Health Organization. Note being a physicits myself, I have more faith in these entities then I would in some random shot-from-the-hip comment about nutcases.
The International Agency For Research On Cancer, a division of the World Health Organization, rates electromagnetic radiation as having very high probability for being carcinogenic. .
The national institute that rates risk for insurance companies has placed microwave radiation at the top of its list.
Lowered property values after cell tower installation is a statistical fact. Crime and vandalism and general neighborhood decay follow. These are facts. We are all entitled to our own opinions, we are not entitled to our own facts.
No individual, and no entity, including the church, should be allowed to assume a known risk on behalf of someone else, much less babies, and children and anyone else who can’t speak up for themselves, much less an entire community. If they do assume that risk, their liability is endless. When our health is gone there is no amount of compensation that can make us whole.
You’d think a someone who claims to be a real “physicist” would know how to spell it and not “physicits” as does ‘research’ above.
One thing I’m finding in these Comments is an abundance of posters who have only just joined and whose only comments are about this article. They are likely Mr. Haberman’s cohorts and cronies in his crusade to stop this cell tower. I’m in the Cabrini neighborhood and I’ve only just joined because someone pointed me to the article.
Mr. Haberman is on no “mission” to make this neighborhood a safer place to live but he does care about his little corner of it. Ms. Kelley (obviously new poster ‘electromagneticsafety’ ) is under the misguided assumption she’ll continue to get his support in future endeavors regarding this issue but Mr. Haberman will find some excuse to drop away once his personal mission is complete.
There is no way to look up just how many cell towers are in central Tucson as the FCC doesn’t require them being registered but my understanding is from CoT is there’s approximately 100 of them (that’s only midtown!). They’re disguised as palms, saguaros, trees, hidden in signs and steeples and more. We simply don’t know where they’re located.
First I’ve heard that AT&T is circumventing some type of regulation about building in a residential area (poster robinstower). I guess there must be some tiny sliver of land a church or school owns for the cell tower on Broadway near Country Club or the one over on Mountain just south of Roger and I guess the one near Prince and Country Club.
Many of the Cabrini residents are just fine about a cell tower being contructed at the church. Of course they haven’t formed some organized group but quietly go about their everyday business. Mr. Haberman is intentionally using inflammatory and biased propaganda to scare and frighten residents of the Cabrini neighborhood without presenting one iota of an opposing viewpoint or science and unfortunately he’s receiving more attention to this yet again.
Thankfully, some reasonable people have taken time from their busy days to point out that this over-the-top hysteria to health concerns are in actuality overblown and greatly exaggerated claims.
“ps Doing your “research” on the Internet doesn’t usually count because as you ought to know any nutcase can post utter drivel. ”
– Well, spoken from someone who doesn’t believe in the internet. So where are you suppose to get your info? Books, magazines ? What’s the difference between reading from Books, Magazines,… vs the Internet? Aren’t articles posted at the internet?
” The “research” most of you do with a quick search is called confirmation bias, where you look for articles that agree with your notions. Not a good idea if you are looking for real answers.”
– So the American Cancer Society doesn’t satisfy you huh?
Message to ALL Community Activist : Get out of Tucson! You have done enough damage in this city! It’s 2013 and Tucson is years behind thanks to your lies!
You know I have heard bad stuff about all this cell phone and cell tower stuff for years. As a matter of fact I was in a small town about two years ago where it seemed there was a “civil war” going on about the same issue. I do believe I smell a rat. The FCC has regs that read that no one can refuse a cell tower based on health issues. About the same as was heard about cigarettes for a long time and still is. Notice the signs now about restricted distance for smoking. And remember the Surgeon General finally said cigarettes weren’t safe. Are we in that same arena for cell towers? I think that someone is making BIG money on this issue same as was made by tobacco companies for years. Where is the Surgeon General on this issue?
The Governments once said smoking was safe. Governments once said asbestos was safe and the list goes on and on about what governments said was safe. How many of these things many years down the track to they say “oops, we were wrong”
People who believe the Governments crap may as well believe someone holding a gun to your head saying I’m not going to kill you. “oops, my finger slipped on the trigger”
People like you lot PISS ME OFF!
There are people around these towers getting sick and even dieing. I’m one of many around one of these tower who suffers. But as long as you have your mobile signal you are happy to turn a blind eye…. That is until they try stick a tower in your neighborhood, then you become one of these people you call nut-cases.. Hypocrites!!
Funny how many hypocrites there are in this world. Turn a blind eye and call people who are really suffering nut-cases until you are in the same situation as us.
you may not think we are experts, but on own own bodies we ARE! Are you telling me if you are sick and I called you a nut-case I would be right? No, because each of us knows our bodies better than anyone. We all eliminate and deduce until we find the cause of our suffering or illness. I cannot be within 150 meters of this tower without suffering severe headaches and other illnesses.
But you A-holes know better than I do what has an effect on my body so of course you are GOD! nothing more than know it alls who care more about your phones having reception then the people who suffer and die just so you can call or test someone.
You people Make me sick to my stomach.. People like you are inhumane!!
The most dangerous thing about a cell phone is texting on it while you are driving.
I propose an experiment, run by Tucson Weekly, to see if people who self-describe themselves as being sensitive to cell towers can really detect them. One of the volunteers could be the person who claims that he cannot be within 150 meters of a tower without suffering severe headaches. It should be simple enough: The volunteer is in the passenger seat, blindfolded, as the driver cruises the roads of Pima County, sometimes stopping miles from a cell tower, and sometimes right beside one. Be interesting to see if this is a real sensitivity to radiation or psychsomatic. How about it, Tucson Weekly, might make a very good story.
Whomever believes that all of our new Technology is harmless is living in a closet.
As for college level Physica, LOL that’s a joke. “Science” is still teaching that the Sun explodes while it has been IMPLODING forever.
So, does your microwave run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Of course not.
Cell towers are harmful. PERIOD
the guy who mentioned the experiment. I would do that but I’m in Australia. You need to understand, people like me who truly are sensitive to cell towers are also sensitive to Wifi and DECT cordless phones. I find being on a cordless phone turnes that side of my face and neck numb if I speak on them for a while, Not That I have used one in some time. I went back to a corded phone. when I first moved here I tried wifi. That effected me instantly, Again depending on my distance to it. Within 2 meters of a wifi I get an intense headache, start to feel really ill and sweat. If the wifi is on the floor, by testicles actually start hurting with this intense pain. Cell towers,. If I’m away from one for an extended period of time, it takes about 10 minutes of exposure before the headaches start. Then about 20 minutes after that I start feeling a little sick. 4-6 hours of exposure I’m feelign so sick I need to get away. 24hours my muscles start twitching and becomes inflames and my joints also become inflamed. I thought I had gotten severe arthritis, but arthritis and these others symptoms dissapear when I am away from this tower. Headaches go within 20 minuts if they had not turned into a migrain. the other symptoms all subside in about an hour.
The World Health Organization has said EHS is real They just don’t want to admit what the cause is. If they do they admit these cell towers do harm. They pretty much did that when they gave RF Radiation this classification: possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B).
If they knew it was not harmful they would have given it a classification that reflected that.
Then they go on to say “”Given the potential consequences for public health of this classification and findings,” said IARC Director Christopher Wild, “it is important that additional research be conducted into the long term use.”
This classification was not only given to mobile phones as the telecommunications companies would tell you. If you are stupid you would not relise a cell tower is the equivalant of hundreds of mobile phones running 24-7 at FULL power, with an antennas literally hundreds of times bigger also.
Here is the main heading of the document where the WHO gives this classification:
IARC CLASSIFIES RADIOFREQUENCY ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS AS
POSSIBLY CARCINOGENIC TO HUMANS
I do not read Mobile phones there do you? It says all RF Radiation. I call it what it is. it is Radiation. Not nuclear of course, but Radio Frequency radiation. GO have a look at the transmitter sites. They have warning radiation beyond this point signs.
I was talking to one of the Telstra Technicians and he said come into the building and have a look at this. There is a book right inside the door that says “What to do if exposed to radiation from this tower”.
That sign is right in line with the floor of my room. I’m 20 meters from that tower. So logic says according to that sign, I’m in the radiation area. I called Telstra and they tried to convince me that was just for show. It should be right up where the antenna are.
And whoever said these towers are not allowed in residential areas is completely wrong. That only applies to maybe 2 or 3 countries. The rest don’t give a damn.
Highlander McCloud, who is now in Australia, how about visiting Tucson to participate in AZRLS’s experiment. Don’t tell me that you’re ‘allergic’ to airplanes too?
If cell phone towers bother you, then stay in Australia. A majority of Tucsonan’s AREN’T bothered with cell phone towers. It’s you, community activists, who doesn’t live in Tucson, that are bothered by this. Community activist, MOVE OUT OF TUCSON OR THE PLANET EARTH, if cell phone towers bother YOU! STOP spewing your LIES!!!
Whoever you are, you need to start looking on the net about how many of us there are. I’m no activist. never have been. However with RF radiation the world needs to know the truth before it’s to late for humanity. Scientist and Dr’s alike are saying the damage is being done to everyone. They also say in about 30 years the world will wake up, but by that time it will be to late. The damage is done on the genetic level.
In the past 20 year since cell towers were introduced. Brest cancer increased 70% Testicular cancer increased 300% brain tumors increased 200% and the list goes on and on. With the event of wifi everywhere, these things will be increasing more.
Children are now showing symptomes in schools where wifi is fitted. The Swedish Government saw the damage it is doing and that county are the world leaders in making their citizens safe. Other countries are following suit in some areas at least.
Yeah we are all liers and nuts.
YOU need to wake up and stop living in a dream world where everything is okiedokie!

As a Nation we have always put Health and well being at the very bottom, hence The sickest Nation on the planet. With the highest rates of cancer, heart disease, infant mortality etc. I personally would rather err on the side of caution. besides its very hard to argue with 6 decades of research. In the age of information Ignorance is a choice. as far as the Church is concerned they should be very ashamed of themselves, even if they didnt believe there are health concerns what about surrounding real estate dropping in value and The noise from A/C units. and with their unwillingness to even meet with neighbors defies what a so called church stands for ! All in the quest for money. St Francis Cabrini should hang their heads low and ask “what would JESUS do” I believe Mr Haberman is doing a Great thing. it has always been people like Mr Haberman that have been persecuted for standing out and speaking the truth throughout history.
This is addressed to the first comment of David Scott Moyer. I have known persons who have worked major utility fields involving electricity and they all have had major health problems. One who was with IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) was amongest the most ill. Another who was a lineman for Tucson Electric Power also is incredibly ill. I believe what is coming from the cell tower is electricity and a major form of radiation in the form of microwaves which just happen to also be used in microwave ovens which “cook”. I think the reason this risk isn’t recognized might be because it is delayed. However just recently, I had a utility reader come by my residence, and I asked him to show me something in the rectangular box below my meter. He said he was not allowed to touch the box. I used to be in business and workmans compensation rates varied by category of work. I am sure this is why the utility reader couldn’t touch the utilty box below the meter had to do with that. He is at less risk than others working for or in what was your field of work. I believe there is a major risk here for the church and the residents and you. I also know electrical engineers who recommend getting away from this cell tower. And that is coming from a professional trained in electricity.
I try to keep an open mind about the effects of cell phones and cell phone towers. But after reading all the comments in this article, I’m very much convinced that cell phones and cell phone towers are safe. The comments against cell phone towers just gets more unconvincing. I guess when you get desperate from losing an argument you make things up along the way. Sorry if I offend anyone. 🙂
Does anyone have any actual data about it lowering property values? If so, post it because I have never seen any factual data stating these lower property values.
Whether or not cell towers pose a serious health risk is not going to be determined in the Comments section of this article of the Tucson Weekly.
As I stated previously, I’m in the Cabrini neighborhood and am familiar with the people and situation involved in this. Mr. Haberman is dictating his beliefs onto the entire neighborhood and now remains the only member of the neighborhood association’s administration (self-appointed president). Had he stepped away, the association might have been able to act as a liason between the opposition group he formed and the church but he refused to do that.
He’s now got a small covy of minions who seem to be following his every wish. From past experiences with him, I’m sure he’s got them doing all the work and putting out their personal funds for what will eventually his personal victory if no cell tower is contructed.
Notice he hasn’t ventured onto the Comments sections here? He’s leaving it up to his followers to do his dirty work for him. Though I am wondering if, in fact, Highlander McCloud is actually him. Same initials (Haberman, Marc) and suddenly an Australian pops in to the Tucson Weekly and the ONLY comments he’s ever made are the six to do with this article. Rather suspicious to me plus there’s a familiar ring to the writing style.
He’s a man at around retirement age and had never shown one bit of interest about health concerns and cell towers until one was to be constructed near him (please refer to the article) but has suddenly become fanatical and rabid in his opposition to them all the while using his cell phone and computer, etc. His general concerns about cell towers elsewhere will evaporate faster than rain on our streets on a summer’s day in Tucson once this fight is over.
This cell tower would be built on the church’s expansive piece of property in the far northwest corner of the neighborhood and would help benefit their efforts with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the good work they do for those of low income or in poverty throughout this community (and beyond). The church has been an integral, welcome and beneficial part of this community for many years.
As I stated in an earlier comment.. Most people only seem to care when there is one put in their neighborhood. So like I said, they only care when maybe their health and the health of their family is at risk.
I on the other had did not start against cell twoers until I had lived with one on top of me for 12 months already. Not unil after It did start to have real health issues for me and when I started talking to people around this tower was not at all surprised when I found out I was not the only one. People pets are the first ones to die as a result of this thing. Their smaller bodies absorbing all that radiation. Pets within 50-100 meters all die of cancer and within about 3 years of living next to this tower.
Some people on here say I’m full of crap! My hatred for these things did not start till 12 months of being next to one 24-7 and being seriously ill effected by it.
Really think about that people. I am a computer Technion by trade. I have loved technology all my life, but after living next to a cell tower for 2 years now, 12 moths hating them… I now hate one form of technology RF. Only because my eyes are wide open to the real effects of this technology.
As I said before. EHS is developed after living 24-7 next to an RF radiation source like a cell tower. I did not have EHS when I moved here, but I sure as hell have it now. So do at least 60% of the people within 50 meters of this tower, almost certainly further.
It is said there is 5% of EHS sufferers in this world and that is growing thanks to all the cell towers popping up. There are 35% of the world who already suffer ES “Electrosesitvity” but do not realise it yet. They shrug off the symptoms thinking it’s just a normal thing when in fact they are being effected by RF radiation from some source.
Studies have shown this on a number of occasions. Studies show people up to 300 meters of a cell tower get ES and the closer to the tower you get the more get EHS. I live 20 meters from this cursed thing and I have EHS. I would not wish it on anyone!

Let me tell you all a thing or two about the truth of this cell tower situation. I am much older and more objective than most of you, and have lived here many years with my wife. I don’t get out much, as it is difficult to walk much. I have been to a few neighborhood meetings in the past over the years. I know this neighborhood, I have been reading all the comments both constructive and destructive name calling. These people who are against the added radiation from a new cell tower really care about their neighbors and themselves. They deserve respect. They are not extremists. Name calling is bullying and no one should stoop so low to treat anyone that way. It only shows the insecurity of those doing the name calling. So, let’s stop this childish behavior!
This is a public health issue, for sure. I know of Mr Marc Haberman and all the good work he has done for the neighborhood over the years. I know of the people on the CNA steering committee, and those who run the church. I know the people at the church feel they are doing the right thing based on the bias information they got from the brother of Father Fuller, who assumes the cell towers are safe based on a lack of information. The church and those who side with them have no idea how dangerous the radiation from these towers are. If they eventually see the facts of the health risks, they will have serious 2nd thoughts on their agreement with AT&T. Since last fall, I have been following the meetings, the flyers, signs and observed the actions of the NSWT group. I was undecided at first, just watching what was going on and looking at the facts. The conclusion I have come to in respecting everyone concerned is that there are NO sides. I am not taking sides, just sharing the facts from an old gentleman who has seen much more than you. We are in this together, and there is the truth (not an opinion) that cell tower emissions are harmful to many people, especially the children and elderly like me and my wife. If those of you who don’t believe that there is any concern just look at some of the multitudes of documentation out there. The best video out there is – Public Exposure: DNA, Democracy and the ‘Wireless Revolution’ – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJbCa-MZwXM . A few facts you may not know – Pima County Board of Supervisors passed a Resolution 2009- 188 on EMF health concerns. A similar resolution is being introduced to Mayor and Council soon. The fight against cell towers and the wireless dangers has been going on for some years throughout Tucson, in Arizona, California and around the country. Check in the the issues of Smart meters on your homes. If you have children or know of someone who does, please educate yourself and you will com to the same conclusions that many others have done. The wireless risks to health are much worse than you think.
Mr. Haberman, being on the steering committee, was in a difficult position in deciding to stand up for the many people in the neighborhood who disagree with the cell tower. There were those who approached him for support of their cause last fall. He did the right thing in the choice he made to help them. It takes courage to do what he did, and in talking with him, I know he is in this for the long hall. If you listen with your heart, you might not be so judgmental. This is real, and and sooner we all face the facts the better off everyone will be. This is a concern that we could be working together on. It would be in everyone’s best interest.
Times have changed. The gov’t and other reputable agencies have declared cell phone towers to be safe. They got it wrong the first time. Those against this cell phone tower should need to accept that times are changing and Tucson needs to adapt to the 21st Century. The same people that are against this cell phone tower seem to be the same folks against a crosstown freeway etc… Tucson isn’t a rundown Mexican town anymore.
So as times change mankind get more stupid? Just accept what causes you and your family harm. Just accept the genetic damage these thing do to you and your children.
If the Government chose to put a radio active dumping ground in your neighborhood, should you just accept that too? I’m extreme with my examples for a reason. It seems some people really need something that blunt to understand.
Never accept things that do harm. The Benefits DO NOT out weigh the damage being done.
It is always the people who don’t have a cell tower anywhere near them that are all like shut up there safe you loony. If it does not effect me then why the hell should I care? As long as I get my cell signal. As long as I can get my wireless Internet.
Please the Telecommunication Companies did their own research years ago. They found them not to be safe too. They buried that research along with the truth. The money to be made from the technology was to good pass up on.
Now governments are putting wifi in schools so our children are not safe when they go to school now. Yes wifi transmits the same dangerous RF a cell tower does.
Electro smog is the biggest health problem this world has ever seen.
The head of the German Telecommunications Industry has said it is not safe. The entire floor of his office has been shielded from RF. There is no wifi or mobile phones allowed on his floor. This is the industry he leads and he choses to protect himself from RF because he knows and has seen the truth, from the study they buried.
As is evidenced here, the research on the dangers of using cell phones and living near cell phone towers and other types of high-voltage electrical towers is mixed.
I would like to ask Mr. Haberman if he personally uses a cell phone. If so, he is directly exposing his brain to radiation– up close and personal. Imaging studies have shown that the side of the brain touching the cell phone reacts to contact with the phone. What that means and what that may be doing to our brains, no one knows because there haven’t been any long-term epidemiological studies.
The research IS mixed and there are many unanswered questions. However, there is enough evidence to bring many experts to call for more precaution, especially in siting wireless digital infrastructure near homes, which creates involuntary long term exposures. In 2011, the International Agency on Research on Cancer, a part of the World Health Organization convened an independent expert committee to review the available scientific and medical evidence on radiofrequency radiation. This group recommended to the WHO that it classify radiofrequency radiation from all sources, incuding cell antennas, as possibly carcinogenic, which the WHO did. The strongest scientific evidence was based on epidemiological studies that link cell phone use to two types of cancers – glioma and acoustic neuroma. Ten years earlier, the WHO classified electrical power (50-60 hertz) from all sources, not just power lines, as possibly carcinogenic due to the strong epidemiological link between exposure and leukemia. Cancer rates are increasing according to recently reported studies and the Italian Supreme Court recently decided in favor of the plaintiff, who filed a lawsuit claiming that his use of a cell phone caused a brain tumor. See: http://microwavenews.com./news-center/ital….
Cell phone use is voluntary and periodic (the FDA/FCC exposure guidelines are based on avoiding heating of tissue and ignore the studies that demonstrate low intensity effects, without heat, for all radiofrequency radiation emitting devices and antennas) The studies showing biological markers that are precoursers to disease due to RF exposure and increased rates of head and neck cancers among those who use cell phones. There are now studies being reported on communities where antennas have been in operation for a few years, such as the Brazilian study reported in the article which reported a higher than normal number of cancer deaths associated to the cellular antennas. Radiating antennas create an uncontrolled environmental exposure condition for communities, placing people’s health at risk. Some people are neurologically more susceptible to harm than other and can become hypersensitive. These people may have to shield their homes or search for a safer place to live if that cell tower is installed at St. Francis Cabrini Church. If the National Institutes of Health acts to include electromagnetic fields on their list of preventive health issues, it will send a signal that NIH is finally acknowledging the risks already recognized by many other nations of the world, including Israel, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, UK, Belgium, India and Taiwan. Smart meters are part of the smart grid infrastructure being deployed rapidly across Arizona, the US and the world. These wireless digital meters pose similar health risks. There are safer ways to design and manufactur communications technologies than using wireless digital signals. Let’s keep listening and educating…a demonstration of citizen’s political will would be a highly motivating force behind those elected officials who understand the risks and want to take a stand.
Yeah, cell phones are safe along with the cell phone towers. I’m also convinced that the radio, television, radio towers and television towers are safe. Of course, let’s not forget the electricity running through our house are safe. Whenever there’s electricity there’s always electro-magnetic radiation spewing around wiring….physics behind electric motors such as the electric fan, car’s alternator and starter, computer fans and air conditioning among other things.
I’d like to see more cell phone towers in Tucson. Tucson could use more of those for faster and undisruptive internet wifi connections.
I have to wonder how many of the people who oppose cell phone towers because of the perceived health risks from radiation sleep for eight hours or so every night within two feet of a clock radio (an electromagnetic radiation source right beside your brain). On those cold winter nights do you turn on a heating pad (an electromagnetic radiation source touching your limbs). Do you use an electric shaver, perhaps?
http://stopsmartmeters.com.au/2013/03/27/s…
Take a gander at this. I think it is well said. this applies to all RF Radiation.
I have an electrical engineer friend who says “ATT puts in a 4G cell tower” then get out and geat away from it. That is professional speaking!
My name is Dennis Williams.(Just so if you want to criticize me at least you can spell my name right). Me and the bank own some property at 3428-3434 E. Presidio, and 1323-1329 W. Hualpai Rd. (The bank lets me collect the rent for it.)
No I don’t make a lot of money on these rentals. The best I can do is just maintain and hold on to them with my fingernails and a frail hope and a shred of faith that they will one day be useful as part of the program I’m directing under Artfare, a 501c3. Because I believe I have a responsibility as a property owner to participate in activities that benefit the neighborhood, I’m a recent member of the Cabrini Neighborhood Association and the El Rio Neighborhood Association. . For the same reason, I’m also a member of Neighbors For Safer Wireless. Before you start looking for coordinates with which to aim your heavy artillery on me, let me just say that what I see here in this forum and on the streets of Cabrini, is a hopelessly deadlocked argument between deeply held beliefs at the level of politics and (there’s a Catholic Church involved so…) religion. You can’t argue a person into your political or religious belief anymore than you can tell someone they ought to like a certain food or be part of a certain community or ethnic group. You can’t tell a pregnant woman that her baby is going to be safe with additional microwave radiation being beamed down on it any more than you can tell a mama bear that you just want to pet one of her cubs….not one of your better ideas. You can’t convince a progressive parent who’s sending her child to Waldorf School that microwaves are safe….not going to happen. You can’t tell someone with a sore or a brain tumor just above the ear where they put their cell phone that it wasn’t caused by microwaves. As far as they (or myself in this case) are concerned they are not an anecdote. You say the studies and statements from the TUSD Governing Board, the FCC, the Pima County Board Of Supervisors, and World Health Organization, and A.M. Best, the insurance risk rating organization and etc. etc. are bogus or political. We say the studies calling us hypochondriacs are paid for by the cellular industry. You say the statistics showing lowered property values and consequent rise in crime and vandalism, and derelict properties are skewed, but you have the evidence right here in these online comments that enough people are against cell towers in Cabrini and other neighborhoods to make a big economic difference. Want to change these people’s minds with facts, figures, cites, local or national politics, or by getting into personalities? Good luck with that. For my part, my base of potential renters, and my profit margin are both so small, I don’t see myself surviving if the cell towers go in. And if I’m forced to sell or walk away a big rental or real estate consortium will be the only entity that can afford to take my properties and they’ll be turned into another set of cookie cutter, ticky tacky, little boxes so called town homes. And I’m not your best candidate for being talked into loving that scenario. We’re here together, and for whatever reasons, we can’t sell our homes and rentals and go someplace else. Like the ecologists say, there is no “away” in which to throw our garbage, and I say, there is no “away” to step away from the Neighborhood Association into. Cell towers or no cell towers we’re stuck here together and sitting back and doing nothing is working for tremendous commercial forces including AT & T and gentrification in general (look at how downtown is becoming a U of A company town in the name of “revitalization”), forces, if you ask me, (and I’m well aware nobody did) are arrayed against real neighborhoods. Whether or not we get past this issue determines whether the neighborhood has a chance to be a real community or whether it becomes what I call an artificial community made of “spit and whistle “ 3/8 inch stucco, pressed wood and cardboard. My project goes the other direction, toward organic gardening and an international art and artist exchange. Every penny I’ve made as a self employed HVAC-R maintenance guy has gone into this project I direct under Artfare, a 501c3, a project to which my rentals are dedicated.. The program is an international art and artist exchange, not invested in big buildings with money targets on their butts, but invested in community, based on student exchange, a member of Couchsurfers.com and WWIOOFUSA. So preach me a sermon, tell me it’s a dumb idea, but we can bring a lot of beautiful sculptures and art pieces made with nature to your neighborhood. It’s an urban gardening/aquaculture center, and child care music and art hour. As such I’m interested in cooperating with any gardeners and anyone who’s interested in the effort to return either or both neighborhoods to a more pristine, natural state. I’d like to see fences covered with vines, xeriscapes and live ponds with trees towering over them to provide shade and especially I am working toward the goal of supplying each of my tenants with a raised bed garden with a shade frame and a cold frame over it with small, well managed livestock to restore some sense of natural balance to a neighborhood over invested in dogs. My theory is that recognizing these aspects of the natural community will make our part of it, the human community, more relaxed, stronger and healthier by changing the entire “climate” of the neighborhood. I’m interested in cooperating with local gardeners in terms of sharing volunteer labor, expertise, produce and CSA’s (community supported agriculture programs). I’m saying all this because I’d like to get past this cell tower issue. We’re not going to change each other’s minds on it. It appears we can’t even have a good conversation about it, so I’d like to just move on to things we can agree that we should work together on. I don’t see how I, much less my projects, can survive if the cell towers go in.. Even if you don’t agree with people’s concerns for their financial or physical health, their opinions will matter. You can’t reassure them, you can’t assume whatever risk there is for them. There’s no amount of liability you or The Church can take out to cover the perceived harm. The Church’s financial interest in renting out the space for the cell towers doesn’t override the concerns of Neighbors For Safer Wireless for their health and safety. There have to be other ways we can help the church do its good work with St Vincent De Paul and Casa Maria Soup Kitchen, both of which I’ve supported in the past and will continue to support (ask Brian Flagg). But you have the evidence here in this forum that the towers can only damage the long term financial interests for the entire neighborhood. Even if the cell towers go in, people aren’t going to stop fighting for their perceived health concerns. Some people will be turned off by the fight and not want to join a bitterly divided neighborhood association. But it is what it is and it just is. It has to be because people have a right to their health concerns. Others, the ones who can, will just move away.
There is too much at stake and we have too much work we need to do together. Let’s agree to disagree and get back to work. In the words of Senator McCain, a man with whom I disagree on just about everything except immigration reform, just because you have a political disagreement with someone doesn’t mean they have evil motives, it usually just means you both honestly believe different things. I’ve found us a new place to meet and a willing business partner at AGM on Ft. Lowell near Dodge. Soon, with their help, we’ll find a dumpster space and an event space where we can all party down dude, forget the past, let bygones be bygones and just move on. Let’s roll.
In the interests of full disclosure I have another personal investment in this argument. A few days ago I had to take my friend to the hospital. (see my blog at http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=62…) . He had a tumor radiating out from the area just above his right ear where he puts his cell phone. There are many other similar instances, but they’re just anecdotes, nothing you should have to worry about.

T-Mobile & Deutsche Telecom Report Outlines Biological Effects from Cell Phone Technologies
A report commissioned by T-Mobile and Deutsche Telecom MobilNet GmbH clearly outlines much of the science showing biological effects from cell phone radiation. This report was prepared in 2000–a decade ago.
It reviews effects such as gene toxicity, cellular processes, effects on the immune system, central nervous system, hormone systems and connections with cancer and infertility.
Note some of the report’s conclusions:
“Given the results of the present epidemiological studies, it can be concluded that electromagnetic fields with frequencies in the mobile telecommunications range do play a role in the development of cancer.”
“Impairment of cognitive functions was found in animal experiments at power flux densities of 2W/m2. In humans, there are indications that brain functions are influenced by fields such as they occur when using a mobile telephone.”
“An epidemiological study of children who had been exposed to pulsed high frequency fields, found a decrease in the capability to concentrate and an increase in reaction times.”
“Effects of high frequency electromagnetic fields on the central nervous system are proven for intensities well below the current guidelines.

with all that going on, you Bone heads want to keep believing this Radiation is safe?
I guess not wanting to believe is a real powerful thing!! It just does not make the truth and facts any less Real than it is.
