Anyone out there into the Showtime series Weeds?

I don’t want to blow it for those of you renting last season (which was so-so). This season (four) is better than it’s been since the Mary Jane-inspired show first started in 2005. Nancy Botwin has brought her crew out of the Agrestic burbs to a San Diego/border beach community, and while marijuana remains a main character, the show is also bringing up some thought-provoking border story lines with border politics now joining the cast. Botwin’s brother-in-law, Andy, and their friend Doug are now in the beginning stages of growing a new business– being “good coyotes”–trafficking illegals over the border in a nice Jet Blue kind of way, with an excellent Minuteman portrayal by Lee Majors (who also happens to play Grandpa Max in the live-action Ben 10 movies)!

  1. Given the nature of the show, I am certain that Andy and Doug (Kevin Nealon!) will have great success with their friendly coyote business. What could possibly go wrong?

I thought Seasons 2 and 3 were fine, by the way. Who doesn’t want to burn down a billion dollar cardboard subdivision? They beat the crash by a few months! Absolutely perfect!

  2. Sprawn! I know someone out there renting Dexter, and they could be Weeds folks too. Now you’ve just blown the end of season three for them! But you’re right – burning down a cardboard subdivision was a great visual…

  3. I’m a teeny bit obsessed with Weeds. As in if anyone interrupts me for even a moment I get really upset and watch the entire episode again when it repeats at 8 p.m. I agree, Mari; this season is way better than the last one. Something was just sort of off last season. It felt kinda… wonky.

  4. i love weeds. but i was also a fan of six feet under, sopranos etc. say what one will the writing is pretty solid overall. television is elevated. or i should say cable. speaking of elevated stuff i learned about this guy from annie’s blog. he makes music with the border wall. i’mnot sure what to make of it. sounds like a bunch of noise but i like the idea. check out this video on you tube he did:: http://www.youtube.com/user/glennweyant
weeds should have him make a guest spot but then again no one would bleeive it :^)
