In our Oct. 25 print issue, on Page 28, we highlight a lecture entitled “Fooled Again: The Real Case for Electoral Reform.”

The date and time printed is 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25.

Yesterday afternoon, we received a call from a UA employee informing us that the correct date and time of the lecture is 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26. Upon further discussion, it was noted that the press release sent out announcing the event had the incorrect Oct. 25 date on it.

When we learned about the incorrect date, we had our webmaster fix the date in our online version.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  1. In fact not an explanation.

It begs the question of “Did the Weekly contact the authors of the press release at the time of the decision to feature the event prominently to confirm it was still on and the other aspects?”

The answer one should now assume is of course not. Instead they took two days to so blog here and let a ‘webmaster’ completely rewrite the description at a time that could of been some 30plus hours later for all I can determine now or from when I observed not even this entry appearing.

So I blame those who probably remained silent to the weekly just as the weekly remained too silent to us after this error was surely discovered. It festered. Finally, just a few business hours prior, less then eight hours in total, a warning: “what’s been on the streets for about three days is false, the talk was not last night, it’s tonight.”

Beyond what I identify is the main problem. That online versions should be available when the presses start not well after they have finished as we currently suffer. That each essay, letter etc. should appear online as it’s approved for print publication. That way employees won’t have to wait until far too late to deny there culpability with the complicity of those they blame. And perhaps whether State or Wick they’ll answer timely to us even if they never realize who really pays there way.
