Rebekah L. Sanders of the Arizona Republic reports that state Rep. Adam Kwasman, one of three Republicans vying for the chance to take on Democratic Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick in CD1, has a blood cancer:

dam Kwasman, a candidate in the 1st District, says he has a slow-growing blood cancer that was caught early, has presented no symptoms and will likely require no treatment for at least a decade. The cancer is called chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Kwasman, 31, said he learned he had cancer last year, just before launching his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. He said he did not tell the public because it has not affected him.

“I have cancer but I’m not sick,” Kwasman said in an interview with The Arizona Republic. “I still go to the gym three times a week.”

  1. “. . . he learned he had cancer last year, just before launching his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. He said he did not tell the public because it has not affected him.”

    So, why tell us now?

  2. 10yrs, eh? That will be the longest decade of his life….unless he starts pleading to God to die in the next couple years….
Kwasman is in what is called the classic “denial” stage. I’m sorry for him and those that love and care for him. The stress of running for office again can easily trigger and speed up the course of his cancer.
His family needs to wake up and give him a “pork chop” upside the head! He can accomplish so much more on behalf of “his people” in the private sector.
Mr. Kwasman…it’s time to stop being selfish, think of your Family and those who care about you and step down from the campaign. You’re in the “run” of your life right now.
