It’s important to understand the context of conservative “abhorrence” towards abortion as being based in a mideival religious doctrine in which women are subservient to men. This explains their platform that not only do women not have the right (or the wherewithal) to choose, but in cases where even rape or the life of the woman is endangered, the right of an unborn fetus supersedes any right to the woman. If “the pro-life” movement really cared about reducing abortion, you’d think they’d be vociferously fighting for sex education and access to birth control, things which actually reduce unwanted pregnancy. But they don’t, because it’s not about the abortion that they despise, it’s the fact that women would have the audacity to choose what’s best for them, that’s what they despise. A party that prances around with their AR-15’s in state Capitol building, a party that follows a narcissistic oaf and pathological liar, a party that is anti-science, anti-human rights, pro war, pro wishful thinking, that is the beating heart of the Republican Party.
