I always worry about censorship as someone who has been censored many times myself. freedom of speech is not for speech we agree with. As pastor neimoller said when they came for the jews, communists, trade unionists, catholic I was not one of them so I said nothing. When they came for me there was no one left to say anything.
A CNBC article reported that Apple removed most of his podcasts because of hate speech. Facebook removed pages due to “…using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies.” Supporters cry out that this is the slippery slope of censorship of opposing voices. However, Free Speech is not absolute. Inciting violence against a religion, race, or group is a crime and not Free Speech.
The problem is that each individual entity will apply it to those it sees as their opposition. Further dividing the country. Did Apple apply it when Occupy Wall Streeters referred to Bush as Hitler? Or when Antifa referred to Trump as Hitler?
The old Hitler thing has kind of lost it’s sting. One more generation of instructional indoctrination and they won’t know that Lincoln freed the slaves.
