working class white women voted for trump. it was women of color who delivered the women’s vote for clinton. working class women are more interested in paying the rent then in democratic party’s agenda $15 dollar an hour is more important to them then silicon valleys donor class pushing for return to free trade with china to make donor class billionaires even richer.
Women are not a unified voting group. Many are more concerned with the economic and social anxiety than with larger social issues and a great many are more concerned with the issue of abortion than with anything else. So, yes, many women may abhor some of the things Mr. Trump says, but they won’t consider that the salient topic. As for Ivanka and her role in women’s empowerment; that strikes me as a bit of a farce. She says lots of good things, but she really doesn’t know what it means for a woman with kids at home and no secure income to move forward. If she did, she would be pushing more for childcare, education, and of course for safety from domestic violence: none of which have I seen her speak out on.
