Republican Martha McSally, who wants a rematch against Congressman Ron Barber next year, announced last night that she had raised $358,231 between July 1 and Sept. 30.

McSally, who formally entered the race on Oct. 1, reported that she had $388,197 in the bank as of the end of the third reporting period.

“People say to me all the time that Washington is a mess, and one person cannot make a difference,” McSally said in a press release. “I believe that together, we can make a difference. We can change Washington by changing the people we send there. I am humbled by the genuine enthusiasm and encouragement from Arizonans to step up and serve again.”

Rodd McLeod, a political strategist working for Team Barber, took a shot at McSally’s tendency to duck questions from the press.

“At a time when our country has been brought to the brink of financial disaster by Washington Republicans, Martha McSally should be honest with Arizonans on how she’d address the issues we face, rather than hiding behind campaign press releases,” McLeod said via email.

McLeod tells The Range that Barber raised $318,584 in the third quarter and had $767,203 in the bank as of Sept. 30.

If there’s any doubt that the campaign battle is already on, a source with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee tells The Range that the DCCC will be using automated phone calls to connect voters with McSally’s campaign HQ to berate her because she “refuses to disown Washington Republican’s shutdown.”

We’ve called McSally spokeswoman Kristen Douglas for comment and will let you know when we hear back.

  1. Does she even live in Arizona? Just wondering since I live in her District and have not seen or heard a peep out of her since the last election, so she has not exactly been spending the last year or so actually learning about who lives here and anything at all about So. Az–guessing her handlers don’t think that might be important.

  2. Maybe a more appropriate question could be directed to the DCCC: How much is enough?

Our ‘credit card’ limit is now what, oh, wait, we no longer have a limit because of this deal?

So this begs the question, what is an appropriate amount of debt? When will the the People’s debt hit that breaking point where those who purchase it rethink purchasing it?

I can guarantee you this, you do not want to get to that point because when we do, it will not be orderly.

  3. “McSally, who formally entered the race on Oct. 1, reported that she had $388,197 in the bank as of the end of the third reporting period.”

This is inaccurate. She filed her Statement of Candidacy on July1 1st, 2013 with the Federal Elections Commission. She has been passing herself off as an explorer, but has been milking the McCain money machine since July 1st.

  4. Sounds like the Golden Rule..she who has the gold wants to make the rules..Same old Washington Insiders
