This just in…

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) released the following statement regarding the results of the special election in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District:

“Special elections are unique, and the tragic turn of events that led to this one are no exception. No one wanted this election to happen, or to see Gabrielle Giffords step down from Congress, but Jesse ran a campaign focused on pro-growth policies that will lead to less government and a strong and vibrant economy.

“It is clear that Ron Barber knew that voters in this district would never accept his true positions on President Obama’s agenda which have made a bad economy worse in this state. That explains why he did his best to conceal his support for so much of that agenda. Barber will not have that advantage in November when he will be on the ballot with President Obama, nor will any of his House Democrat colleagues.”

  1. Pete, please. Kelly ran on a platform of fantasy and furious backpedaling. The Republican Party has virtually NOTHING to run on this year, and they know it. That’s why, from Romney on down, all they can do is incessantly spout unmitigated nonsense in the hope that, with the help of their friends at Pox News, enough voters can be brainwashed into supporting their pathetic campaign. The president will do just fine, I believe, and very possibly come close to carrying Arizona. Despite the anomaly of 2010, most voters aren’t stupid.

  2. Meanwhile, in Congressman Sessions’ shredder, there’s the alternate press release that was to go out if Kelly won. It said that the election was a referendum on the President and the “Democrat Agenda” with national implications which are sure to carry over to November.

Those grapes were probably sour anyway.

  3. The retards who sealed this deal happened when they re-nominated Jesse Kelly. He lost once, why would he win again? All the dems had to do was what they did, relentlessly play all those rants and out of context statements to remind the voters of why he lost in the first place.

If the repubs wanted to win they wouldn’t have nominated Jesse Kelly.

  4. Kelly won’t be the nominee ever again. Next time it will be McSally. The Republicans forget they live in a world with video tape and every single one of them forgets it. Fortunately, it worked this time against Kelly.

I wonder when the American people are going to wake up and notice Romney’s etch-a-sketch moments. Looking forward to Obama’s unleashing of those ads and hoping voters recognize him as the same sort of politician that Kelly was…saying anything to get elected. You can’t be to the radical right in the primary and suddenly move to the middle for the general.

All this, despite the spin Faux News ignores it or spins it.

  5. Mr crinkster, you may be right about Kelly not being the nominee ever again, but I hope you’re wrong. No offense.

  6. Jesse Kelly was a scary candidate. The worse part of it was his unwillingness to answer questions related to his positions, including why he was taking money from racist organizations. That showed his true colors and the fact that 88 thousand people were willing to vote for him shows how screwed up that district is and the hate that exists.
