Governor Jan Brewer just issued an executive order banning illegal immigrants applying for permits under the federal government’s Deferred Action program.
The order cites concerns that the estimated 80,000 Deferred Action recipients would put “significant and lasting” strain on the state’s budget and public benefits systems.
The young immigrants eligible for the Deferred Action program would avoid deportation and earn permits allowing them to reside legally within the United States while they work toward citizenship.

Good. This is a finger in the eye of anyone who went through the legal process of immigration, rewards criminal behavior, and provides a large incentive for more to come illegally.
WTG Gov. Brewer. Being legal, that’s one thing, but illegal is a crime and breaking our law. They should have no rights, no jobs here and certainly no welfare benefits. We are a struggling nation, deeply in debt, high unemployment and we don’t need any additional burden to carry. Do I empathize, yes, but we have to take care of our own.
I’m with Jan, the FEDS do nothing but HELP the illegals instead of stopping their illegal activity. Going so far as to “reward” them because they made it over the fence and got here and HID for so long. WE need to make sure they dont bankrupt US. Thanks Jan, we’re with you!

Good for Jan, illegal is illegal and while the current occupant of the White House bypasses Congress to achieve his personal agendas it does not change the status of those who wish to become citizens of the US. There is a well-established process for this wonderful opportunity and, until Congress changes the law, it must be observed, as it was by my mother so many years ago.
Arizona needs its own INS type policies, for as long as Obama and his ilk are in control of the US/Mexico Border policy, it will only become worse.
The Feds told these kids they’d be able to get drivers licenses. This will be interesting to see how this plays out.

This state suffers from a white trash problem. I have lived all over the country and people here are the most lazy, backwards and racist I have ever encountered. What a mistake.

Your comment is racist and out of line. The comment policy specifically prohibits racist comments. Lumping people together under pejorative titles is soooo 1960’s. Why is it still acceptable to do it to white and gay people these days?
If these young folks are willing to provide proof that they have no criminal records, are employed and wanting to go to school we should be all for aggregating them into the tax base.
After gutting social programs in the state, balancing the budget and creating a surplus it seems as if the Governess doesn’t care about serving a population that does not vote, nor serving the rest of us by bringing in more taxes, so she says fuck these future Americans, fuck progress and fuck a better future.
