If the article itself weren’t ridiculous enough (largely focused on the fact that Barack Obama enjoys some cultural elements that some African-Americans also enjoy), the URL is really charming: “obama-parties-chris-rock-jay-z-and-whoopi-while-rome-burns”. For some reason, noted urban celebrities Tom Hanks, DNC Chair Tim Kaine, and Chief of Staff Pete Rouse aren’t mentioned in that list, but maybe the web guy over at Fox ran out of room. Anyone know what John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Mitch McConnell were doing last night? I imagine staying up all night fixing the economy. No reason to believe otherwise.
Obama Turns 50 Despite Republican Opposition
WASHINGTON—After months of heated negotiations and failed attempts to achieve any kind of consensus, President Obama turned 50 years old Thursday, drawing strong criticism from Republicans in Congress. “With the host of problems this country is currently facing, the fact that our president is devoting time to the human process of aging is an affront to Americans everywhere,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who advocated a provision to keep Obama 49 at least through the fall of 2013.
[Update: It would make the quite persistent people at Fox News happy if we included a link to a story on Yahoo!, where the guy in charge of programming for Fox Nation defends the headline by mentioning that there were some kids doing a hip-hop dance routing at the party. No explanation for the choice of URLs, photos accompanying the piece, or if one hip-hop dance routine turns a function largely attended by Caucasian rich folk into a “hip hop BBQ”, but whatever. This isn’t a correction or a clarification or anything, because I still believe the blog post is correct, but an attempt to make one Fox employee’s day a bit easier.]

He has the right to enjoy his birthday as he wishes. He did not make the mess this country is in and he will not get us out of it either even if he worked 24/7 throughout his presidency. All our politicians and big money put us where we are and they will not get us out either. We need all new leaders, top to bottom. FOX is showing what a poor corporation they truly are, like British Tabloids are.
i am not the least bit suprised at fox or any of the teapuppets bush would never take time off.ha ha ha
Happy “57th” Birthday Mr. President!
@ripDIO Let us know when you come down from whatever horrible drugs you’re on- in the meantime, I’d suggest hiding under your bed. Not only will you be safe from the scary MuslimsocialistcommyKenyanfascistradicalblackguy that obviously has you simultaneously peeing your pants and foaming at the mouth, but if you’re safely beneath your bed, you are far less likely to make a fool out of yourself like you just did….
I have no problem with President Obama celebrating his BD, everyone like to do that. However making part of a fund raiser is another matter. True, Nero fiddles while Rome burns, is an excellent comparison. Nonetheless, the same man when Senator, was dead set agains voting for an increase in the debt ceiling, but found it fine when he is now in charge………..some things never change and our elected officials keep going down the very same road that brought us the problems to begin with. I guess we never will learn until we are in the same shape as Greece……………
I can only think of one thing Obama is good at… LYING,,,,he is set to ruin this country, try tracking his past, college friends, girl friends Social security card its all sealed
he is a fake
Oh let the man celebrate his birthday! Geez, he’s been working real hard for the little guy, standing up to all them rich fat cats/jet owners and all. What? So none of you naysayers had the $35,800 to attend his party? I’d like to know just how many of his “GUE$T$” arrived via Private Jet!
Sweet! I didn’t even know there even WAS a Lennonist club ripDIO!
That sounds like my kind of club. I am assuming they sit around, talk about art, have jam sessions, sing “give peace a chance” etc. where do I sign up?
Make fun of the right all you want. The fact is that the Obama family has been having a good old time while the country is suffering. Obama has played FAR more golf than Bush…has attended FAR more campaign fund raiser than Bush at this same point in the cycle…AND Obama is NOT a hard worker. All of this would be forgivable IF his policies were correct. But he has done EXACTLY the wrong things…increasing spending when we need to drastically CUT government spending…increasing regulations on businesses…trying to increase taxes on “the rich”…just BECAUSE they are rich and he knows his supporters will go along with this Marxist philosophy.
I make fun of the right every chance I get. It’s kind of unfair that it’s so easy.
And how exactly does cutting spending in the face of a recession create the aggregate demand necessary for private sector employers to start hiring again?
Who is making fun of the right? Not me, I simply responded to a post. I wouldn’t equate some of the very intelligent republicans I know to some tea party folks (and their incomprehensible gibberish).
p.s. if one can’t spell Lenin they don’t even know who he is and maybe they should refrain from defining someone else using said name.
p.p.s. I am sure George Bush Sr. would be shocked to know he is a Marxist.
p.p.s.s. If Obama got this much done (got medical reform passed, ended the Iraq war, caught Bin Laden) by not working hard (which is a bogus statement, but just to continue the thought…) I can’t wait to see what he can do when he does start working hard!
wow.. I can’t believe some of these comments.. EVERYONE is entitled to celebrate his or her birthday…
well have a party on the country while americans have no jobs no money and there kids are servicing there country, he just keeps on spending its not fair to the country, stop spending what we dont have washington yall never stop..;(
well even if he deserves to have his birthday party y did he have to use our money he should have used hes on that would have been a good example to show he cares.
