  1. So this is the kind of art they choose for the Arizona Biennial ’11 in Tucson. It is nice to see the “Tucson” Museum of Art supporting all the artists in Phoenix by giving them a show here. The people who curate these shows are lost in a world of BFA art slush! Ridiculous!

  2. Some quick facts about the Arizona Biennial ’11:
    – 19 of the 45 artists selected are from Tucson
    – the curator for the exhibition was Anne Ellegood, Senior Curator at the Hammer Museum in LA who was also chosen for the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale
    – it is called the “Arizona Biennial” because any artist over the age of 18, working in any media, residing in the state can submit
    – artists from Jerome, Sedona, Tubac and other Arizona cities are also represented
    – it’s always good to see the exhibition and learn about the artists and art represented before passing judgement

  3. I have seen it. Curatorial experience does not automatically amount to creativity or good taste. Note: The picture shown above is of a PHX “artists work.” Plus, Why would you have someone from LA who has no idea what is going on in the local Arizona art world curate a show of Arizona artists? It’s like having a Russian open up a taco stand in Mexico.
