This news from the Arizona Republic doesn’t seem like a positive development:
Family members of the suspect in the Gabrielle Giffords shooting on Monday blockaded themselves into their home north of Tucson and were refusing FBI agents’ entry.
At about 12:25 p.m., agents began banging on the blockade built with 4-by-4 double-thick plywood, yelling, “This is the FBI. Let us in.” The blockade is preventing access to the front porch of the home.
Some agents were sent behind the house, and media representatives could hear the agents talking with someone from inside the house.
UPDATE: The FBI has been let into the home, according to the updated Republic story.

Shame on the media and the FBI! Don’t you think this family is suffering enough?! What would you do if it was YOUR son?
Garygoodbird: what?!?! what exactly is the FBI supposed to do, say “ok no problem, we’ll come back in a couple weeks.” YES it is unfortunate that people seem to overlook the suffering of those related to the guilty person, but barricading themselves from the police and FBI was not a smart move.
The kid lived at home until recently and the FBI wants to look through his personal items in the house. This is standard procedure for anyone involved in a crime–shooter and victims, sometimes. What is wrong with the earlier poster? I would let the FBI look through my son’s things to help me determine why he did such a terrible thing, that is, unless I had a screw loose and spewed the nonsense that sent my son over the edge. WHO puts up wooden blockades of the home front door?!?! Seriously, what kind of nuts live in AZ?!?
If your family member was killed or laying in the hospital with bullet wounds, wouldn’t you want the authorities to get to the bottom of the reason why?? That is why we have FBI agents, law enforcement, etc. If it was my son, I would want the facts. Put yourself in the place of all of us that live in Tucson. I have personally met Congresswoman Giffords. She is a lovely person. None of the 20 victims deserve what has happened. PLEASE! Let the authorities do their job.
Apparently not; they just have plywood covering their front door for some reason, but they did let the FBI in via their side gate:

A neighbor of theirs reported on local news (KVOA I think) that the parents were just trying to keep the media away from the front of their house. They have been cooperating with the FBI and will issue a statement as soon as they can. Both parents are reportedly ill from grief and shock.
