The AP has called the CD8 race for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Republican Jesse Kelly has posted a statement on his Facebook page:
I would like to thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my wife Aubrey, who has been by my side this entire time, my family, for their unwavering support, and the thousands of warriors who fought with me in this campaign.
While we fell short here in District 8, Tuesday was a resounding victory for America. The citizens of this nation overwhelming chose limited government, fiscal sanity, and free market solutions. I am proud that we ran an honest and straightforward campaign. We are blessed by God to live in a nation where we get the government we deserve and the government that we chose. The voters of Southern Arizona have spoken and I respect their decision.

“AP follow’s TW’s lead”….I’m sure the AP was just bursting with anticipation, wondering when Jim Nintzel and the TW would call the race! Jim…..Do you feel respected when you see banner ads for tittie bars and dildo dealers flying all over your blog posts?
I guess an ‘honest and straight forward campaign’ consists mostly of talking down about your opponent and failing to mention anything positive about what you plan to do. I am not a couch potato, but when I did see campaign ads (Which even if you only watch a limited amount of TV, it’s near impossible to watch even just the news hours without seeing 20 campaign ads. Most of which were actually his. Perhaps coincidence, but it’s just what I personally witnessed during my daily upkeep on current events.) I, not one single time, saw him saying what he planned to do better or for that matter, what he planned to do at all. Not to say that I saw all the ads he had, just that the only things I did see were about what Gabrielle Giffords has been doing and doing horribly wrong. For example: Saying she voted with Pelosi and Obama so and so amount of the time. Well a little common sense would tell me of course she did, democrats tend to vote with other democrats. Doesn’t really seem like a smear there, just more of a common sense, “Duh.”
Now granted, I am not planning to run for office, but in my ‘what if’ situation I would want to win the people by speaking of the good I hoped to accomplish and what I was going to bring to the table. If you’re a good candidate (If there is such a thing) you should be able to win by discussing yourself, your visions, hopes and dreams, not trying to win by portraying yourself as being the better of the worst and saying “At least I’m not her!”
IMHO
I’m so glad she won and I’m more glad I don’t have to see any more idiotic political commercials.
I’m so glad he lost. He kept making offhand comments about Jesus, most notably in the debate at the university. Oh, and his so called policies were half baked at best and wholly unsustainable.
