On Easter, the Range ran a meditation from Tucson musician Ricky Gelb that received a great response — 198 Facebook “likes” thus far. Gelb shared with the Range that starting Sunday, April 29, he’ll be doing two guided meditations a week at Three Jewels, 314 E. 6th St.
“Starting Sunday April 29, 8 am, I will be doing guided meditation for folks in recovery. The meditations will be based around the 11th Step – ‘Improving our conscious contact with God (of your understanding or non-understanding) through prayer and meditation,'” Gelb told us.
“Starting May 1st 7:15 pm I will be doing candlelit guided meditation for the general public to help make the work week more enjoyable, based around relaxation, being in the moment and gratitude, to help folks get out of compulsive spun thinking and into authentic centered being.”

And here’s some more of that Meditain Love a la Gelb:
We are the children of the children of the beginning
In the beginning, there were two entities that arose from nothingness and unknowing. Nothingness morphed into stillness and unknowing morphed into love. And they began to dance throughout eternity and their passion created energy. Which spawned matter that we call planets. This is the story of the Earth & The Sun. The Sun, a son of eternal passion, fell endlessly in love with The Earth, the daughter of love and the first mother we know. The Sun, still and dormant set itself on fire out of passion and in a fatherly style out of care and devotion for the Earth and her future. His love for the Earth is so strong, he will burn beyond knowing. The rays of the sun procreated life on The Earth and he was fulfilled, as he inherently knew what an amazing mother The Earth will be.
The Moon, who subdued all but it’s eye, couldn’t stop observing The Earth & The Sun. Their romantic power awoke the internal emotive passion of lunar love in The Moon. He gravitated to the magnetism between The Earth & The Sun and he found inner peace. He devoted himself from that day forward to act as a reflection of such love and beam it into the heart of all future life.
So in every human heart is a universe of love.
As we are the children of the children of the beginning whose dance is endless before and beyond matter.
As we are all inseparable from the greatest mystery known as God.~ricky gelb

huh? why is TW running this stuff? i mean, whatever, but the creation story a la Gelb?
Yes a New Meditation Group just in time to beat the heat. I need a Meditation for the heat, as I am recovering from Life, & I think Meditation & some Yoga is what I should take up – so this will be the first step. Thankyou Mr Gelb I look forward to your sessions as I look forward to hearing more Music from you in the future. Thankyou.
I thought this one might of been considered odd by some to be posted as it is just a poetic ponder not a actual event. It was actually something that came to mind while meditating. The reason I asked to have this one posted is because so many people have found it to be beautiful and heart warming on facebook, it has received so many sweet compliments. Usually when I am inspired to write, it is about spiritual principals such as gratitude, acceptance, forgiveness, hope, oneness, meditation, consciousness et cetera. I do so to help others get out of compulsive thinking, pain, fear and the material world. I like to bring into view what a gift the experience of life is and how amazingly loved and cared for we are, that often is taken for granted as we get consumed by self.
There is an endless supply of information about politics, wars, products, competition, win -loose, right – wrong, good – bad and very little that focuses on the whats within. I find this offers great discomfort to many as it is not authentic to being and is the root why so many people develop addictions or look for relief in alcohol, drugs, sex, money, food and more.
Please let me know your view & thank you. ~ricky gelb
I love feeling good. I am not a spiritual person, but I celebrate helping others feel good in a peaceful positive way. Don’t knock it, first commenter. It can only benefit each of us to have more of our community be loving toward themselves and others. Ricky, I wish you much success. I suggest to those who don’t find affinity with the particular words chosen, you may try just trancing out a bit and enjoying the sound of language and the feeling that is communicated. It is a kind and loving feeling. We humans spend a lot of time criticizing the technicalities each other’s words and overlooking loving intentions.
Being in recovery has shown me that in order to continue improving my conscious contact with God, I need both prayer AND meditation. My life is so busy sometimes, and I find it hard to let go of stress and that’s where meditation comes in. Don’t ask me about chants, monks, or whatever else people think of when the subject of meditatation is brought up. I am not Buddhist, but I can tell you that when I take time every day out of my life to slow down, and quiet my mind, my world is calmer, my reactions are more rational and overall I just feel good! In my opinion, the world needs more exposure to the immense healing effects meditation provides, so I am thankful for people like Ricky who take time out of their busy lives to be of service to humanity. If meditation isn’t your thing, no worries, turn the page, turn the volume off, cllick a new window whatever, but don’t pass judgement on me, I’m happy, joyous and free-are you??
