One reply on “An Exxon Valdez Every 10 Days”

  1. This is a great parody – personally, I found it first on Juan Cole’s “Informed Comment” blog. But, more seriously (as I wrote in a previous comment) the US media and our government/Coast Guard are complicate with BP in playing down the extent of this disaster. I would encourage anyone to READ FOREIGN NEWS SOURCES. (In this case BBC was, predictably, not much better.) The most in-depth and accurate source I found on this spill was – like it or not – Al Jazeera, who had journalists out on boats dipping bottles into the muck and interviewing locals. Any American should ask themselves: Why did Al Jazeera report that the broken pipe was leaking from three places a full week before ANY major US news source or government official reported that? If you start to read domestic and foreign news sources on a regular basis, it becomes quite clear that there is always a lag/spin cycle here. Free speech? Give me a break.
