Let’s get this out of the way. In Bob Grimm’s review of “Into the Wild,” he refers to the Salton Sea as being near Palm Springs. From a Tucson perspective this is kinda funny, since it’s equally close to El Centro (down the highway from Yuma). Doesn’t Grimm live in Las Vegas or something? Everybody from Tucson should try to check out the Salton Sea before it completely evaporates: a nastier smell you will never experience.
Finally, our thoughts go out to everyone–especially all of ourWeekly alums, including staffers, freelancers and readers–in Southern California dealing with the inferno. Stay safe, and keep us posted.— Editor’s Note
Did Saxon really move out to SoCal or is he elsewhere away from the fire? One should hope he ditched his plans and went elsewhere.
thoght i should be noted i thought this week’s issue was pretty solid.
on a rating scale of 1-5 dicks i’d give it a five (sue me al goldstein).
i appreciated the envrio. coverage by mari, dan-o and devine.
one thought: i would have preferred to see mari’s story on page one since that is a story which will impact the community and the hearing is coming up.
i would have also been interested to see some plans. what will this thing look like.
dan-o’s story was more timely and a bit leafy but his story did make for an interesting cover design.
no complaints though. really enjoyed them both.
also nice job by devine on the border wall although some comments by defenders of wildlife etc would have been nice (i read that one in the john at bookmans so maybe i missed it).
and jimmy thought your editor was nice for what it was.
great movie review on kong by digovani.
so there you go.
now i’m off to rome for a meeting at the vatican.
Saxon is living in WeHo, yes. Carrie Stern’s in San Diego. And others are there, too. So far, all the Weekly alums I’ve heard from are well.
As I’ve said before KMFU, booze and chocolate are better… any kind of toilet enduced compliments don’t do anything for me. Tell Benedict (sp?) this ex-Catholic says hello.
Hey look, King Marlow turned over a new leaf for the week. That’s cool. (DiGiovanna’s Kong review was last week, though; this week was Darjeeling.) What is a “toilet-enduced [sic] compliment”? Is that because he said the issue was “pretty solid”?

actually it was my way of showing i give a shit.
While Dear Devine didn’t write the border story, but Victorious Vanderpool, I only mention his toilet compliments because, Mr./Ms. KMFU enjoyed his reading at the Bookmans’ john – in my house it is still called the potty…
We all rest easy now that we’ve passed KMFU’s criteria.

not so quick there vanda ol girl.
i didn’t see nutin written (er ah make that WRITTEN!) by you this week.
but then again some congressman kept wigglin his fingers under the stall wall and it was getting a bit creepy what with the cop tappin his foot and all so maybe i missed it.
anywho last i saw you on this here blob you were busy lobbying the city council (and telling us to do so here) for something that seemed rather unethical as a journalist.
i mean i’m just a poor turnip exterminator, so what do i know?
but the fact you work as a journalist and apparently sign petitions as a citizen/journalist and urge others to do so as a citizen/journalist seems kinda questionable.
but i’m sure i’m way off the mark on this.
after all you’re a WRITTER!
— in my house it is still called the potty…
my aunt was a little potty.
i never signed anything as a journalist.
keep exterminating them turnips will you!
