Lance Pope grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, about an hour
outside of New Orleans. Four and a half years ago, he moved to Tucson
and has been working at Casa Video ever since.
What was the first concert you ever saw?
On June 8, 2000, my cousin Courtney, our friend Les and I saw the
Black Eyed Peas and Lit opening for No Doubt at the (University of New
Orleans) Lakefront Arena.
What CDs are in your changer right now?
Usually, I’m listening to DragonForce, Dethklok, Jivin Scientists,
the Darkness or Metallica, but I don’t really keep CDs.
How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes,
8-tracks)?
A friend of mine has 100-plus gigs of music on his hard drive, and I
just happen to have a 120-gig iPod. So whatever that comes out to.
Do you download music,and if so, legally or illegally?
I don’t really download much. Usually … a friend has it … or
I’ll order it and find someone to give the CD to after I put it on my
iPod.
What was the first album you owned?
I don’t want to admit this … the first album I remember owning is
Starship, Knee Deep in the Hoopla, on cassette.
What song would you like to have played at your funeral?
“Binary Sunset” by the London Symphony Orchestra, as conducted by
John Williams.
Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don’t know
about?What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?
I really don’t think that there is anything that I “love” that I
don’t admit to. Wow, what a lame-ass answer. You know what? I don’t
hate a few Dixie Chicks songs.
What band or artist changed your life, and how?
I always hated homework, and my senior year of high school, I had to
write a 20-page term paper on anything I chose. I went with Metallica.
Without that paper, I would have failed.
Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all
time?
Misfits, Famous Monsters. There isn’t a track on the album
that I don’t love.
