It may be the dead of summer, but the Loft Cinema continues to offer a variety of entertainment options. Their annual Kids Fest is always a highlight, with plenty of cinematic fun and activities.

A kick-off party takes place at 5:30 p.m., Friday, July 18, at Trail Dust Town.  The Loft’s program director Jeff Yanc tells us via email,  “There’s going to be a lot of great activities going on, including live children’s music by the One Man Train Band, a circus-inspired performance by Cirque Roots, animal encounters with Southern Arizona Greyhound Rescue, crafts and activities. … Trail Dust Town will offer unlimited amusements, rides and Wild West stunt shows with the purchase of an $8 wristband.

“At the Kids Fest itself (July 19 to 27), we also have lots of activities going on every day before each film. The staff of Mildred & Dildred will host activities in the theatre every morning. … Reid Park Zoo will be hosting a “Zoo-to-You” program featuring live bearded dragons and other reptiles on July 27 before How to Train Your Dragon. …  (Before Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure), there will be free raffles for bike items courtesy of Bookmans … and the kids (will make) red bow ties.  … We’re planning on having a little Pee-Wee Dance Party before the movie.” The Loft Cinema is located at 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.; more info at loftcinema.com.
