A Bad Week for Monkeys
Nimbus Bistro, 6464 E. Tanque Verde Road, has closed following rumors of a possible closure for the past month or so. The Nimbus brewery (which has been unaffiliated with the bistro in recent years) remains open at 3850 E. 44th St. You have to wonder if the Tanque Verde location is jinxed.
Monkey Business Eatertainment, a pizza parlor that hosted children’s birthday parties, also closed last week. The building, at 8581 N. Silverbell Road in Marana, is for sale.
Valentine’s Chow
There will be another edition of the Tucson Weekly before Valentine’s Day arrives next week, but I am trying to keep you procrastinators out of trouble with your significant others. So I have taken the liberty of suggesting a few places to make reservations for you and your sweetheart to dine on lover’s day.
Woo at the Zoo, Reid Park Zoo: A gourmet dinner, tantalizing desserts, live music and a champagne toast. Seatings are at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The cost is $65 per person. More info at reidparkzoo.org.

Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress St.: The hotel is offering a “Sweethearts of the Rodeo” package that includes dinner, drinks and a concert by the Dusty Chaps. The a la carte menu includes oysters, scallops, filet mignon, specialty drinks and wine pairings. See hotelcongress.com.
Maynards Market & Kitchen, 400 N. Toole Ave.: “A Taste of Something Truly Unforgettable” is a three-course meal created by Chef Addam Buzzalini. Choices include oysters, surf ‘n’ turf and truffle risotto, with wine pairings. Prices range from $70 to $90. More info at maynardstucson.com.
McMahon Restaurants: The Old Pueblo Grille, 60 N. Alvernon Way, has a four-course dinner starting at $21.95 per person. McMahon’s Prime Steakhouse, 2959 N. Nimbus Bistro is evidently dead in the water. Last time we were there, it looked like their furniture was being repossessed. Too bad, but fortunately, there is a lot of other good beer in town!

Yeah, what’s up with no Chow/Noshing around for 2 weeks in a row?
Pissed off: You must have a low bar for what upsets you. The double whammy of Beer Week and the anniversary issue bumped Chow and Noshing. Both will return on the 26th.
Fair enough, but would it have killed you to mention that in the Weakly, perhaps in the contents section on page 1? For all I knew, perhaps it had been killed off, not that anything like that had happened before (cough, cough, Movie Times).
