Brush Ice?

BrushFire BBQ’s eastside location, at 7080 E. 22nd St. is remodeling a meeting room to add an ice cream shop. It’s supposed to be open within a couple of months. There could be some interesting flavors to look forward to when barbecue chefs get hold of an ice cream maker. Vanilla/pork belly, anyone? Brisket chip? Check brushfirebbq.com for updates.

East Side Gets Its Meat

Carniceria del Cazador is a full-service Mexican grocery and butcher shop at 7419 E. 22nd St. Eastsiders no longer have to venture far for their carne fixes!

  1. I live just east of Swan and there’s an excellent carniceria right nearby with great carne asada: El Herradero Carniceria y Panaderia. 22nd/Columbus.

  2. That place is GREAT, in fact it is the one I frequent the most, by far. It is west of Swan, and I live FAR east of Swan, so I am looking forward to this new place. I hope it is as good.

  3. Great little bakery in there too, I grew up in that neighborhood, sure wish that place had been there back then. Fry’s has done a good job across the street with their Mexican style cold deli and ice cream.

  4. El Herradero is horrible!! Rude employees, first of all. If you speak only English (this IS the US), plan on being treated poorly. If you don’t look latino, also expect to be treated poorly. MAYBE I could deal with that, but I cannot deal with flies in the meat and cheese display cases. There are also flies in that little bakery case, too. I’d say, just don’t bother. I live near the new Eastside carneceria. Haven’t tried it yet, but I plan to soon. Hope it is much better than the previously mentioned market.
