National Lager Day
Need an antidote to holiday stress? How about pausing for a
pint-sized celebration of National Lager Day on Thursday, Dec. 10?
Austin Santos, of 1702, the restaurant and beer hall at 1702 E.
Speedway Blvd. that took this year’s Best of Tucson™ award for
Best Beer Selection on Tap, suggests celebrating with a Weihenstephan
lager from Germany, or a Stiegl lager from Austria. He said the Kaiser,
a domestic lager that 1702 serves on tap, is also noteworthy.
Tea in the Gardens
Seven Cups Tea House (2516 E. Sixth St.) has opened a location in
the Grove of Peace and Harmony at the Tucson Botanical Gardens (2150 N.
Alvernon Way). A cup of tea served in the shade of swaying grapefruit
trees? Now that’s lovely. Expect hand-harvested, organic Chinese teas
and Japanese desserts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

S’mores
Few things complement a winter fireside get-together like fresh,
gooey s’mores. Westward Look Resort (245 E. Ina Road) does it right by
providing the fire, the s’mores-makings and musical accompaniment by
Gerry Glombecki from 5 to 7 p.m., every Friday through Christmas. It’s
free for resort guests, but anyone can partake if they donate a can of
food to the Tucson Community Food Bank. Call 297-1151 for more

Sleeping Frog Farms Tour
The owners of Sleeping Frog Farms (1801 W. Overton Road)—who
grow veggies that have Tucson chefs talking—are opening the gates
to their organic spread for a tour from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec.
12. These guys really know their stuff, so plan on great gardening tips
and maybe even enough inspiration to start growing your own vegetables.
The tour is organized by the Food Conspiracy Co-op, so give them a call

Lee Lee Update
The enormous Lee Lee Oriental Supermarket at 1990 W. Orange Grove
Road hasn’t opened yet, but if it’s anything like the stores in Peoria
and Chandler, we’ll be in for a treat when it does. Officials say the
only thing stopping them from opening is getting the refrigerated
sections running, which should be done in about two weeks. The store
was originally slated to open in September.
