AFRICAN HOLIDAY MARKET. Visit the Sixth Street Art Studios, 44 W. Sixth St., for a glance at unique fine art gift items and more, with proceeds benefiting the Barbea Williams Performing Company. Among the offerings are musical instruments, dance demonstrations, original centerpiece and floral ideas, clothing and hair accessories. Market continues through December 21. CANYON CHRISTMAS. The Friends of Sabino Canyon and the Forest Service host the second annual holiday Music in the Canyon from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 13. The path to the historic Lowell House will be specially lit to guide visitors to an evening of music, entertainment, and more. Performers include Walden, a wind quartet, The Tucson Flute Club, The Tucson Boys Chorus and the Old Pueblo Madrigal Singers. There will also be strolling carolers from the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association. Children can visit with both Santa Claus and Smokey the Bear throughout the evening. Admission is a donation of food or cash for the Community Food Bank. Call the Friends of Sabino Canyon at 749-1900 for information.

HISTORIC HOME TOURS. The Sosa-Carrillo-Fremont House Museum, a branch of the Arizona Historical Society, offers van tours of the downtown historic districts, including Barrio Historico, Armory Park, Congress Street and the El Presidio neighborhood, from 9 to 11 a.m. the fourth Friday of each month. Refreshments will be offered after the tour. Cost is $12 per person. Walking tours of the downtown historic districts are also offered at 10 a.m. Saturdays, departing from the Carrillo House, 151 S. Granada Ave., one block south of Congress St. in the TMA Historic Block. The walking tour, which includes a slide show, is $4. Reservations are required for each of these tours, which will continue through March 29. Call 622-0956 for reservations and information.

SPIRIT OF GIVING. Visit the Bear Canyon Plaza at Tanque Verde and Bear Canyon Roads for the Spirit Weavers' Spirit of Giving Arts and Crafts Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15. There will be more than 100 unique juried artisans, holiday music provided by Sunrise Entertainment, and meet NASCAR driver Bob Seekings from noon to 4 p.m. daily. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation, and donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted. Admission and parking are free. Call 529-2072 for information.

WINGSPAN AUCTION. Wingspan, Tucson's Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Community Center, is conducting its annual silent auction through December 15. Up for grabs this year are weekend getaways, works by local artists, and much more. All are invited to stop by the center, 422 N. Fourth Ave., to view and bid. Funds raised from the auction benefit a variety of services including a 24-hour information line, support groups, a youth group, and free HIV testing. Call 571-8183 for information.

WINTER STREET FAIR. Mark your calendar for the 27th annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair, an eight-block shopping extravaganza, from 10 a.m. to sundown December 13 through 15 on Fourth Avenue between Congress and Speedway. Admission is free, with free parking and shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday only from the State Parking Building, 400 W. Congress St. For information call 624-5004.
