ARTS BRIGADE. Calling Community and Neighborhood Artists: Want to have some fun and help your community? The Tucson Arts Brigade is a multi-cultural, intergenerational collective of community based cultural workers aiming to demonstrate that the arts can be used to impact social issues. The brigade needs artists interested in working collaboratively. Current projects include street and wall murals, group exhibits and street puppets. All events are free and open to the public. ART WALK. Fine artists and galleries await on the weekly Art Walk, a self- or docent-guided stroll through the Downtown Arts District between 5 and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. CALL TO ARTISTS. The Tucson International Mariachi Conference seeks submissions for the Tucson International Mariachi Conference poster. Submit original artwork, sketches, or three slides of work completed within the last two years. An honorarium of $1,000 will be awarded. Work should reflect the 1998 Conference theme: Aires Mexicanos--its impact and cultural significance--in an abstract or representational style. CALL TO ARTISTS. Central Arts Collective is accepting entries for my pet 2, a serio/comic/emotional/conceptual look at people's involvement with pets. WAREHOUSE WALKS. Take a tour of Tucson's Historic Warehouse District with The Tucson Arts District Partnership. Tours run the second Saturday of each month, and meet at 8:50 a.m. in the lobby of the Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress St. Group size is limited, with RSVPs requested by 5 p.m. the Thursday prior to the tour. Participants should dress comfortably, and plan on being outdoors.
