PAPER PRAYERS. 254 N. Congress St. 884-8004. Join the Shanti Foundation for the fourth annual Paper Prayers benefit for people living with HIV/AIDS from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 10. Local artists, students, volunteers and clients have created "Paper Prayers", 4x12 inch strips of hope and prayers for members of our community who live with HIV/AIDS. REV IT UP. The Boondocks Lounge. 3306 N. First Ave. Gas up your bike and ride over to The Boondocks Lounge for the Huns Motorcycle Club food drive benefiting the Community Food Bank from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 10. There will be live music, drawings, door prizes, a bike show and more. Admission is $5 and 5 cans of food, bikers 12 and under are free. Call 628-9608 for information.

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION. American Legion Post 109. 15921 S. Houghton Road. 762-5652. Celebrate the honor and courage of the Veterans who have served for our country all day Saturday, November 9. The day begins from 7 to 9 a.m. with a full-course country breakfast, followed by a craft bazaar at 8 a.m. A full parade begins at 10:30 a.m. with featuring Smokey the Bear, the Hot Flashes, Two Shoes the Clown, McGruff the Crime Dog, the Hot Flashes, Sabbar Shrine Motorcyclists, Vaqueros De Tucson, U.S. Forestry Mounted Assistance Unit and many others. There will be live entertainment following the parade, and chili tasting with the Chili Heads. At 6 p.m. an authentic Mexican dinner with live entertainment by Black Velvet rounds out the evening. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Tucson Veteran's Hospital. Call Post 109 at 762-5652 for information.

WINGSPAN AUCTION. Wingspan, Tucson's Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Community Center, is conducting its annual silent auction through December 15. Up for grabs this year are weekend getaways, works by local artists, and much more. All are invited to stop by the center at 422 N. Fourth Ave. to view and bid. Funds raised from the auction benefit a variety of services including a 24-hour information line, support groups, a youth group, and free HIV testing. Call 571-8183 for information.
