WOMEN BUILD HOUSES. Women Build Houses, an organization teaching home building and maintenance designed specifically for women, offers classes throughout the summer. Classes provide hands-on experience to increase women's access to building skills and knowledge, while promoting environmentally safe building. Classes cover electrical, plumbing, construction, auto and safety issues. Call 882-8876 for registration and information.

RECYCLING CENTERS. The following neighborhood drop-off centers are open 24 hours daily: Cholla High School, 2001 W. 22nd St.; Booth-Fickett Magnet School, 7240 E. Calle Arturo; and Morrow Education Center, 1010 E. 10th St. All city and county landfills also have recycling centers. Call 791-5000 for hours and locations. Multi-material recycling facilities are located at Recycle America, 945 S. Freeway Blvd. Call 622-4731 for hours.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE. Outreach centers are open from 8 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of the month in the following locations: Eastside City Hall, 7575 E. Speedway; TFD Fire Academy, 797 E. Ajo Way; and the Park and Ride parking lot located on Ina Road one block west of Oracle (Ina Road & Via Ponte). The next drop-off date is June 1. For more information call 740-3340.

WILDLIFE LECTURES. Water Research Center. 350 N. Campbell Ave. 323-0547. Sue Morse offers a slide lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, entitled Keeping Track: Citizen Participation In Wildlife Habitat Monitoring, an informative introduction to the basics of tracking and keeping records of wildlife movement. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, Kevin Hansen presents a slide lecture entitled Cougar: The American Lion, based on his book of the same name. Admission is $2. call 323-0547 for information.
