BUY MORE BOOKS! Support the Tucson-Pima Public Library at the 26th annual book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Tucson Public Library. This year's sale is from noon to 9 p.m. through February 8, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 9, at El Con mall. There will be rare books, first editions, reference, foreign language, cookbooks, children's books, tapes, videos, and much more.

LA REUNÍON DE EL FUERTE. Follow the footsteps of history by taking a walk into the past at the 16th annual La Reuníon de El Fuerte on Saturday, February 8, in the old Fort Lowell neighborhood. Self-guided tours run from 1 to 4 p.m., when you can follow the footsteps of Hohokam Indians, Mormon farmers, Fort Lowell soldiers, and settlers from Mexico. There will be a free shuttle service, maps of the tour, and other family events throughout the day. Call 318-0219 for information.

HISTORIC HOME TOURS. Walking tours of the downtown historic districts are offered at 10 a.m. Saturdays, departing from the Carrillo House, 151 S. Granada Ave., one block south of Congress St. in the TMA Historic Block. Reservations are required. Call 622-0956 for information.

TGIF. Stop by TGIFriday's at 4901 E. Broadway, between 11 a.m. and midnight on Monday, February 10, for a special Las Familias day. A portion of the proceeds from meals and drinks will be donated to Las Familias, a nonprofit organization specializing in the treatment of child sexual abuse. Call 327-7122 for information.

CLIMB FOR A CURE. The 12th annual Climb "A" Mountain, Conquer Cancer, benefiting the American Cancer Society, is Saturday, February 8. There is still time to register for this 3.1 mile walk from Pima College West to the top of "A" Mountain. There will be a festival at the top including music by MIX FM, munchies from Bruegger's Bagels, free massages from the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts, and more. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk commences at 8 a.m. Registration fee is $35, and includes a tee-shirt, goodie bag, and team photo. Call 321-7989 for registration information.

Out Of Town

FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS. Visit Tubac for the 38th annual Tubac Festival of the Arts, continuing through February 9. Enjoy the wares of more than 300 artists, including works on canvas, jewelry, pottery, leather work, wearable art, crafts, sculpture, weaving, wood working and more. There will be theatrical and jazz performances throughout the festival, and a tasty food court featuring Native American, Mexican, French, Greek and Oriental cuisine. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Call 398-9296 for directions and information.
