Arizona state Sen. Jorge Luis Garcia, a Democrat who was seeking a seat on the Arizona Corporation Commission, has passed away at age 57.

"The people of Southern Arizona has lost a tremendous advocate and he'll be sorely missed at the Legislature," says Rep. Matt Heinz. "He put solving problems ahead of partisanship, always."
