Dillard's
Three Locations

READERS' PICK: Dillard's has all those department store advantages when it comes to the latest styles, the dizzying selections, and the most hassle-free return policies. And with all the good ol' capitalist marketplace pressure from dress-for-less chains putting the squeeze on the big guys, diligent sale-watchers can have all the luxury of shopping in the fancy stores without having to pay department store prices. Or so we hear.

READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: The Gap, Three Locations

A REAL SCREAM: We all love what an informal town Tucson is, but there are times in every girl's life when she just wants to drop a bundle and try her damnedest to look young, hip and dangerously cool. Sometimes you just want to pretend you live in New York City, you know, someplace where people actually care what they wear--or indeed, at least notice. Changes, with two locations, carries very fashionable, prohibitively expensive clothing that can make you look as though you just dropped into that convenience mart on your way to have a few cocktails with The Chemical Brothers. In search of a Betsy Johnson dress, anyone? And Changes has a lot of clothes, in styles that work for a variety of ages and body types, unlike a lot of boutiques that just stock 10 or 12 garments in impossibly small sizes. Located at 4320 N. Campbell Ave., and 2920 N. Swan Road.
