Best Tequila Selection

STAFF PICK: Those of us accustomed to tossing back a shot of tequila now and then or sipping margaritas at sundown have long been aware there's a difference in tequilas. The prevailing wisdom used to hold that the good stuff would save you the pain of a hangover; but frankly, we've spent loads of money testing that theory and found excess exacts a toll no matter how much you pay. But if you wish to conduct your own investigation, the best place in town to do so is Barrio Grill, 135 S. Sixth Ave., where a separate tequila menu will have you wondering how one could possibly survive a sampling of all items listed. White or gold is just the tip of the iceberg. Ranging from a few bucks to $10 a shot, Barrio Grill's menu covers the gamut for the quintessential tequila experience. The margaritas, not surprisingly, are also very good here, with a homemade sour heavy on fresh lime juice.
