Best Bookstore Memory

STAFF PICK: Every time we drive by the now-vacant storefront at 2452 N. Campbell Ave., we can't help remembering fondly the bygone days of browsing through those used and rare volumes of natural history and Native American folklore. After searching unsuccessfully for a buyer to carry on his fine, regional inventory, David Laird was forced to, well, kill the clown. The former librarian and owner of Books West Southwest closed up shop, moved to a new market, and left us with a lot of great memories...and the image of that Hopi clown logo burned into our retinas.
