Antique Mall
3130 E. Grant Road

READERS' PICK: Whatever wily scrap you've been searching for, chances are you'll find it somewhere along the stretch of Grant Road between Campbell Avenue and Alvernon Way, where more than 10 stores are clustered, some malls unto themselves, and filled to the rafters with forgotten treasures. Among these is Antique Mall, an unassuming brick edifice with peeling paint and no windows. Battalions of bamboo furniture, legions of floor lamps in various states of disrepair, vintage jewelry and more kitsch than you can cram into your caboodle are yours for hours upon hours of uninterrupted browsing. Whether you're out to reinvent your living space on a shoestring budget or to ferret out that heirloom armoire, there are more than 90 dealers here to help further your quest.

READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: Kay Mallek, 3859 E. Grant Road.

STAFF PICK: There used to be a great antique store in the building on the corner of Fourth Avenue and University Boulevard that was originally a gas station. In a weird circular move it's been turned back into a gas station and People's Collectibles has moved a little farther south into Armory Park and the old OK Market, 600 S. Fourth Ave., another location that is somewhat of an antique. The market is filled to the brim with wonderfully wooden furniture and odd collectibles. If you have an old family heirloom you'd like to trade in on a new family heirloom, or if there's some one-of-a-kind item you've been looking for, ask them to keep an eye out in their frequent estate sale visits and junk junkets.
