READERS' PICK: See the extended pick on page 108 for more information.

READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: Value Village Thrift Store, 300 N. Fourth Ave. What used to be a cash-only, no-Sunday adventure has gone uptown, or glancing in that direction. It's still a time-honored tradition to "pillage the Village" and simultaneously escape that pesky sales tax. The recent remodeling has left the aisles wider, brighter and lowered the exploratory charm considerably. Plus the prices are a smidge higher; but there's just got to be something in there for everyone. We once found a Barry Goldwater pin for a buck--it was worth $20.

STAFF PICK: Sacks Sixth Ave., 45 N. Sixth Ave., is run by clients of Our Place Clubhouse, a work-oriented day program for chronically mentally ill people. They sell both men's and women's wear. Everything is a dollar except for sale items, which are cheaper. It's a small boutique, but the stock turns over fast and clothes are handpicked from the outtakes of one of Tucson's finest resale shops. They also accept donations, and all proceeds go back into the Our Place Clubhouse.
