Best Non-Sonoran Style Restaurant

Café Poca Cosa
88 E. Broadway

READERS' PICK: See the extended pick on page 54 for information on this Tucson treasure.

READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: For the best in non-Sonoran Mexican cooking, you must head to La Parrilla Suiza (2720 N. Oracle Road and 5602 E. Speedway), which specializes in the cuisine of Mexico City. The food--although somewhat lacking in vegetarian fare--is fantastic; we particularly recommend the seafood (especially the Camarón Loco), the combination plates, and the tacos. And the salsa (especially the green stuff.) We also recommend the chicken, the pork, the homemade tortillas, the beef, the Sopa de Tortilla à La Suiza and the fajitas, to say nothing of the delicious margaritas and Tequila Reposado and Sangrita. Be forewarned, however: the portions are so vast you may wish to go without eating for a few days before to make the most of your visit.
