Best Seafood

STAFF PICK: If you love the desert but find yourself periodically craving salty air, soft sand and surf, Mariscos Chihuahua (1009 N. Grande Ave. and 3901 S. Sixth Ave.) has the required balm for your parched soul, with some of the freshest and tastiest seafood this land-locked town has to offer. The delectable shrimp cocktails, served in varying proportions, are an almost gazpacho-like concoction of robust Guaymas shrimp, chopped fresh tomatoes, cilantro, chiles and onion. Their effect is truly restorative. Also not to be missed is the ceviche tostada, another standout in a brief but impressive menu featuring the fruits of the sea. The seven seas soup, a Mexican bouillabaisse with a rich stock containing shrimp, clams, squid and many other items you may or may not want to know about, is a culinary masterpiece. As yet the tap is strictly bring-your-own, but the proprietors will gladly provide you with a pail of ice to keep things cool. Even on the beach in Rocky Point, it doesn't get much better than this.
