Ed Moore, Legal Beagle

HERE'S THE ONGOING series excepted from the official deposition of Pima County Supervisor Mikey "The Flaky Waffleman" Boyd, who is being questioned by attorney Bill Hanson about a comment Boyd made to the Saturday Morning Breakfast Club, a local right-wing group.

"The legislature's just not quick enough, they're not adept enough and probably smart enough, they're not smart as Ed is in terms of--Ed is the all-time country lawyer. He knows more about lawyering than lawyers do," Boyd told the group.

Q: What did you mean by that reference to Mr. Moore being the all-time country lawyer?

BOYD: Ed often refers to state statutes and laws probably more than anyone I've ever known.

Q: Did he ever refer to any of the laws regulating the meetings of the Board of Supervisors in any of your discussions before January of '93?

BOYD: I can't remember that ever coming up.

Q: Do you really believe that Ed Moore knows more about lawyering than lawyers do?

BOYD: I may have been a little loose with my words there.

As we continue to illustrate, Mikey is loose with his words, his commitments, his alliances, his principles and just about everything else. If Moore is a loose cannon, Mikey is a loose waffle.
