The year is 1982, and three young girls in Stockholm are starting a punk rock band. Boyish, bespectacled Bobo (Mira Barkhammar) is on drums, mohawked Klara (Mira Grosin) pulls double duty on bass and vocals, and straight-laced Hedvig (Liv LeMoyne) plays guitar. Besides Hedvig, the girls have no experience and very little talent, but that doesn’t stop them from writing songs about their lame P.E. teacher and the banality of sports. They’re only 13-years-old, but each of them have found solace in punk music for different reasons; Bobo’s single mom is mostly absent, Klara’s parents are a little too liberal, and Hedvig comes from a religious family. The film’s innocent and anarchistic spirit never panders, the music is great, and there were times I wanted to jump in the screen and hang out with them. It's one of the best punk rock films to come out in a long while.
