The Hotel Congress Outdoor Stage will feature two of Phoenix's hottest new rock acts. Snake! Snake! Snakes!, with their lush guitar arrangements and dramatic vocals, have drawn comparisons to Arcade Fire, Joy Division and Interpol. Their self-titled debut EP was produced by Bob Hoag, who is best known for working with The Format; with SSS, he has created a sonically beautiful and emotive debut. Super Stereo is known for their compelling live show and for unleashing a trove of infectious pop hooks. On their latest release, This Is Futurepop, they successfully combine pop-snyth with funky dance grooves.
Lovers of American roots music, rejoice! Voodoo Swing, from Phoenix, will be bringing their big-guitar rockabilly sound (à la the Paladins) to the Bud Light Music Stage. Originally from Salt Lake City, this trio has recorded for labels in England and Holland, and currently splits their time touring in the U.S. and Europe. Their latest release, Refried Voodoo Beans, features songs about hotrods, jitterbug queens, drinking, carousing and everything a greaser would love.
Our favorite song on the disc is one that might become quite popular here in the Old Pueblo: "My Wild Cat Walk."
