The UA College of Science hosts free lectures throughout the Tucson area. Justin Schmidt, research director of the Southwest Biological Institute presents "The Sting Is the Thing (or Why Insects Sting)" at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at Western National Parks Association, 12880 N. Vistoso Village Drive. Brad Story of the UA Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences presents "The Amazing Talking Machine: How Humans Produce Sound for Communication" at the Mountain View Country Club Ballroom, 38759 S.
