Turistas

Director John Stockwell (Blue Crush, Crazy/Beautiful) creates an uneasy mix of the thriller and the slasher flick in this story about white tourists who don’t want brown people to steal their organs. Gorgeous photography of the Brazilian jungles and a well-paced story about bikini girls and their troublesome young breasts add artistic low-brow pizzazz to this otherwise standard tale. Its only downside, other than its obviousness and predictability, is the gore. It’s unnecessary to the plot and serves only to alienate those who don’t think people look better without their skin on.
