Tucson's Blues Lineage

Recalling great blues performers who played in Tucson, including 1950s Chitlin' Circuit shows by Ray Charles and Etta James at El Casino Ballroom, a panel organized to celebrate Tucson's Birthday precedes a concert by the Duke Robillard Band at 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14. Panelists include music writer Chuck Graham; Tucson Blues Society leader Steve Gilsdorf, and Brooks Keenan, who founded Tucson's first blues band in 1965, and performed with former Tucsonan Albert Collins. $25, $22 advance, $10 per student ID.
