Re: “Arizona Burning

Where is the racism in the story? Please give specifics. It is easy to sling arrows, but not back it up with any evidence.

Re: “Arizona Burning

Actually, he is not fanning the flames. He is reporting.

Re: “Arizona Burning

Cascabel, where is the proof of Leo fanning the flames of hatred? You make the accusation, but fail to prove it with your demagoguery. If you actually read the article, you would see that Leo is talking more about the government's failure to do its job.

Re: “Mailbag

Nothing in Kate's critique of Leo Banks in any way disputes what he has reported. She accuses him of writing misleading, fearmongering pieces, but does not provide one ounce of proof anything that contradicts his reports. Instead she writes a letter using incredibly hateful language against someone with whom she disagrees.

Leo Banks has been a respected journalist in Tucson for more than 30 years. He gets these stories because the people living on the border (who are of many different ethnicities) trust him to cover the story completely. Before you start hurling stones at the man, let me ask that you provide one iota of proof beyond some semantic disagreements.

Re: “The Krentz Bonfire

I challenge SMH or any of the other people who accuse Leo Banks of racism and slanted journalism to find one reference in his many writings to "brown people" and getting rid of them. It is so much easier to play the racist card rather than dispute his arguments in an intellectually honest way. Mr. Banks has quoted many hispanic people in his stories who deal with the crime on the border on a daily basis. Rather than shoot the messenger, why not show where his stories are inaccurate? A much better and more civilized way to behave than going for the cheap insult.

Re: “Trashing Arizona

Leo Banks doesn't have a racist bone in his body. He has reported with integrity in Arizona for many years. Don't kill the messenger.
