Afternoon keynote speaker Rochelle Gutierrez, Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Latina/Latino Studies at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, presents "Mathematics Teaching as Subversive Activity: Reclaiming the Profession in an Era of High Stakes Education" in the Santa Rita Room. Evening keynote speaker Gloria Ladson-Billings of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, author of The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children, presents "Stakes is High: Educating New Century Students" in the North Ballroom. The colloquy is hosted by the UA College of Education.
