On Friday, Jan. 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the YWCA Tucson, 525 N. Bonita Ave., some Tucson folks are starting their organizing early in reaction to the new Arizona governor's proposed budget cuts to K-12 education and state universities. Oh, yes, and giving more to the Department of Corrections to spend on private prisons. Everyone is invited to what's described as a planning meeting: parents, grandparents, faith based groups, elected officials, PTO's—yep, everyone. It can't hurt to actually organize early rather than be reactive. For more information, go to their Facebook event page, Arizona stands up.
